This is probably it's final iteration for a while. At least until I decide what I'm doing with it. I'm not selling it yet. I took it out and drove it around for about a half hour last night and it's pretty fun, but comically slower than my truck.

Slower than your truck? Comically? Is it turbo?

According to Motor Trend my truck is about a second faster in the 1/4mi with a trap speed 7mph faster. Remember it's an 02 WRX with the 2.0 Turbo they were 'only' rated at 227hp and 217lbft of torque. Quarter mile times from magazines are in the mid to high 14s and that is with a punishing launch that is known to cause problems on the 02-03 transmission. My truck has magazine times in the mid to low 13s. It's amazing what 400hp and 500lbft of torque can do

It is true what we think is fast and how this new stuff is surprisingly quick. A local has a Pearl yellow vr4. His daily driver though is a merc v8 with turbos. He says it makes his vr4 seem super slow. He’s prob right. Don’t know how I would feel about mine if it didn’t have some upgrades vs my Lexus.

I will only add that your subi maybe slower, but it’s almost as fast and doubles the gas mileage, easier to drive around, and if something happens to it then it’s much cheaper to fix or total.

It's way more fun to drive and it's so narrow compared to the truck too it's easier to place in a lane. As for gas mileage my truck is rated 23 highway and the WRX was originally rated 27 highway. A difference yes but not enough really matter.

In other news the Borla S-Type on the car is quite loud for a completely stock car, so yesterday for $50 I picked up a stock exhaust. I felt too much like a stock civic with a fart can exhaust, lots of noise with little speed

Since I had it on the quick jacks for changing the exhaust out, I decided to change the transmission and rear differential fluid since the transmission has an unknown number of miles and who knows when it was last changed it just seemed like a good idea. The transmission went easy no problems. The rear differential had a skid plate on it the previous owner put on. To avoid a mess I decided to take it off and one of the differential cover bolts snapped off and took out one of my ez outs too ...

The bolt is broken in the differential casing not just the cover. Either way the differential has to come down to remove the cover because of how it's mounted.

If the cover comes out…would it show more the bolt so you could use Vice grips?

Yes but the cover holds 2 of the differential mounts, so to take the cover off you must drop the differential. A friend of mine has a used differential housing I can have, but I'm not super excited about having to swap the internals.
