Oh no, what have I done... Part 2

Post by Chris GTO TT »

Well after everything I decided to cure my boredom with another project. This needs a motor. Basically the tinkering and the work seems to be good for my mental health. It gives me something to focus on and problem solve.

As much as I don't need it and I bitch about it I really want something to tinker with as well. It's a love hate thing.

Engine plans?

I say go full crazy and modify to drop in lsx.

Holy shit. There's still a piece of guardrail stuck to it.

The biggest concern is are the pieces I'd want/need for a BAR swap usable, and are the rest of the things that make the STi valuable still useable.

You'd need to work with a broker to get it. I don't know if they'd do an inspection for you.

Do not pay for Copart's 'inspection' service. It's a gigantic waste of money. The extra photos were nice, but I didn't learn anything I didn't already know.

One of these days I'll get over to the yard here and see if they check ID on entry. If they don't, I could just give you my member number and you could go pretend to be me. I'm not eligible to bid in California, but I think I could still get on the lot to look at cars.

Yeah I dunno about doing a full BAR swap it seems like it's going to be way more expensive than what I had initially planned for this car. Have to find a USDM 04-07 complete STi engine and engine harness, which at this point will always have well over 100k on them. This means I'll likely need a new short block soon after getting it running if it runs at all.

Finally started to wrench on it this weekend. Got everything disconnected except for the bell housing and motor mounts. Have to pickup my engine stand before I pull the engine out.
