I finally finished pulling the engine this afternoon and pulled the heads off. There had to have been a burr or something on the intake cam at the front journal because it dug in hard. Now the fun of dealing with the shop again.

I need to place a final order for parts to reassemble the engine, and I'm not sure where to spend a little extra. The chassis has 250k miles and I'm assuming the harness does too. I've broken a couple of clips on the engine harness, so i'm contemplating a new one from iWire. It's actually a custom built harness from the ground up. My other thought is to get some ARP head studs. I'm not really willing to afford both. The harness is $500 shipped, and the head studs are $250ish shipped. I'm just not sure where the money would be better spent :eh:

Which specific clips? Could you maybe replace those individually and then buy the head studs?
I think about all the things we could have done, all the miracles we could have achieved, if we were all just a little bit better than it turns out we are.

One of the tgv ones and one on the throttle body. The whole harness is just super brittle because it sits between the intake manifold and the block.

Given how you talk about this car, I wouldn't invest in a new harness. You can probably freshen up the one you have pretty cheap. Some modern Tesa harness tape and a couple of new or good used connectors should fix it right up.

I'm kinda thinking about foregoing both items, but i just don't want to have anymore problems with assembly. Hence the headstuds. I might just use some safety wire to hold the clips on

Those look like they should be pretty easy to disassemble and replace. Do you know if anyone sells them individually?
