Has the factory exploding g80.
Jacked up the trailer, checked the wheel bearings, greased everything. Ordered new caps as mine are junk.

So grandpa is already stressing about this model A. This is exactly why I didn’t do this by myself. This is not that hard but he’s spent 60 yrs taking care of it. It was his wife’s car. He wants it all going and taken care of but worried about the process.
This will get worse before better.

By the time you are done, you'll probably have a better understanding of the phrase "Let no good deed go unpunished."

Very much so. Coop is living out someone else's dream...and letting that person dictate how it's happening.
I think about all the things we could have done, all the miracles we could have achieved, if we were all just a little bit better than it turns out we are.

Re: Trailer
Loaded up all the stuff to take with me. Still can’t figure out how to secure down the car jack. Shouldn’t be this hard.
Loaded the two shelves up. Then went to adjust my load leveling hitch for the Tahoe. Thought my 1 1/16” would be enough. Nope. Next size up. So I had to fight with a huge adjustable and smaller adjustable to get it all undone and then level the trailer, measure, and take a good guess. Hopefully right. I did come back home and get the correct size so I don’t have to fight if I need to adjust again.
Just added the brake controller to the Tahoe, also changed the cabin filter.
Bought a spare tire and a new grease gun, as I don’t feel mine works well enough.
We leave tomorrow morning and I know I’m gonna forget something. This whole trip is gonna be stressful till I get that thing back.

Guy deals with life or death situations at work, and he's worried about forgetting a jack in his personal time.
Set a checklist and it'll be fine. As long as you have all the major stuff, you can pick up anything minor as you need it.

You know whats funny about that .that stuff really doesnt bother me. Might get a little excited but this month is my 18yrs. Every call is a little different but we all know what to do. I get way more stressed at home with the kids.

Here ya go steve, I put on one of those things you said I should.
It deff doesn’t go up and down now, so it should be less noise at least.

Inventory your stuff, check it off an actual list, and relax. You're not deploying to Kandahar. If you forget something, there's probably a chain store close by where you can get one.

Well done. Its not the audible clank thats nice. Its the fact your load wont shift at your receiver. Acceleration and braking will be much nicer and predictable.

I will have to remember those for when I have to tow..
Also - our #1 rule for when we do IM races (and we need to bring a LOT of stuff) is as long as we have the main stuff we can buy anything else there. So.. have bike? Alrighty! We're set!
You got the trailer. You're set. Now enjoy the trip.

Yes. Thank you for the reminder. We do the trip in 2 days. We are 1/4 the way there. Food and gas stop. Tahoe seems to like 65-70, outside that its hunting gears. So far seems good.

Re: Trailer
At our first stop for the night. A hotel.

So my batt chief at work gave a tip that said if I put the rear tire up against a curb it would put the ball in a bind and they would not be able to get the trailer off. Now in reality they could, or steal the truck too. But this is more about how it’s a pain in the ass and they would move on.

Re: Trailer
Yeah that’s not bad advice. It’s more true on surge brakes but certainly means more effort to detach it and steal it.
Re: Trailer
Kind of worried about the temp. The gauge sits strait up at 210 or a hair less all yesterday. 93-95 degrees. Today in 73 not even 20 mins in I would see it a hair above 210. Yeah I know. Nothing to worry about. Just that it didn’t ever do that yesterday. Pulled over. Checked coolant, or stuff blocking the radiator. All looked fine.
Averaging 13.4mpg btw. Usually get 17 in town with no trailer and the cyl deactivation disabled.

Re: Trailer
Until you can pull the actual digital temp from the ECM, don't worry about it unless it starts creeping up towards the red. I did a little reading on it and it looks like the trucks have the same vague analog gauge that my Stingray had.
