He'll be fine. Not going to set any land speed records but he'll be fine. We towed a 5k lb boat with a 92 explorer and it only had a 140ish HP V6

This is why I didn’t get any bigger or heavier trailer. It all snowballs. Nothing in my life needs a 3/4 ton. Even how much I would love it because I am Coop, I don’t need it. I don’t care if we just travel at 60mph, don’t care. I am well under the tow limit, the trailer has brakes, and it’s not a reacquiring thing.

Now when I was going to do all this with a borrowed 24ft enclosed car hauler then yes I was gonna rent a dually for 100 a day. But we are going to be gone 10 days. I’m not gonna rent one for 10 days. When it was drive up a day, load a day, drive back a day it was perfect. But the father in law couldn’t give me 3 days. Also why this car hasn’t been touched by their family. They will not spend the time to do it. I will.

Unless you know you're not going to tow pretty much ever

Like my buddy with the 2020 F150, he knows he's pretty much never going to tow anything (even though he got the max towing package :lol :) , so he leveled his, and it looks so much better.

Yeah. When I put on the leveling kit I never planned on towing with the Tahoe. Part of me wants to take it out before we go, another part of me is like….it’s just this trip.

He probably would have bought this https://www.coopertrailers.com/inventor ... =equipment and then we'd be talking about the modifications needed to put a 5th wheel or gooseneck into an Avalanche

There is an avalanche that did that. So I wouldn’t be the first. Problem is that they are on a suburban frame and different than the truck. So while it worked, it wouldn’t hold for long term.

Did some work on the wheel chocks. I want to bolt them down as I think with flat tires they might not work how I want. So the angle iron gives me something to bolt it down. I also have a spot to put some D rings that I will use grade 8 all thread to go through the whole thing.

Then I have the first part of the weight distribution hitch together.

One done. Basically this started because I’m sure the tires will not hold air. This will hold the tire better while strapping down I believe. I left enough room to add a d ring on the other side if I ever want to use these in a lawn mower later. Doing it this way was a little annoying as you turn one thing and the other parts turn. Doing it it’s like well DUH. But when I thought of it that’s not what entered. I’m happy with it though. If things do start to pull then there are lots of of places for strength.

Finished the other one tonight. I wish I knew where I would bolt them to as that would make loading take less time but right now I’m going to load it, see where I want it, mark it, back it out, bolt in the blocks, and reload. It will not take long but will add time.

Can we also take a second to recognize how hard it was to find the blocks I wanted. I wanted metal, I wanted them to go under the tire/wheel, and I wanted them tall enough to get a good bit of the tire/wheel.

Got some work done on it today.

Image
I needed some real braces under the trailer for the D rings up top. I just had the metal backings and while I doubt that was going anywhere, this is much better. Prob still could have used metal but if the floor is gonna rip up it’s not gonna be from a sudden stop, it would be from a crash and there is no helping it then.

Image
Finished the battery instal, now the battery is in there and all wires are attached/secured down. Uptop you can see the hook up for the remote so I can pull it in and out not in the vehicle.

Image
The original box was broken, held on by duck tape. New box was 3 bucks.

Image
This is much better.

Image
Weight distribution is on and while I needs to changed for the Tahoe, this gives me an idea on how it works.

Also, brake controller is amazing. Strait amazing.

Is the battery hooked up to the charger pin on the RV 7way trailer plug?

No. It has a separate battery for that and the safety switch. I’m gonna put a solar panel tickle charger on it.
