Re: Trailer
If you don't make the rear of it look similar to this, I will be disappointed.

I think about all the things we could have done, all the miracles we could have achieved, if we were all just a little bit better than it turns out we are.

According to chris that’s not legal? That was my inspiration.

I'm not 100% sure. I just do know there are regs for marking trailers such as that tape I posted.

I think Chris' link is just regarding what you have to have. Not what you can't have.
As long as you don't put flashing lights and anything suggesting it's "Rescue" or "Ambulance" or anything like that, then it shouldn't matter how you decorate it.

I'm only a part owner of the trailer so I'm not sure, it's not a very expensive trailer. As far as I know it's covered by the tow vehicle insurance when being towed.

Re: Trailer
This seems like a decent review of it that isn't an ad for an insurance company https://www.caranddriver.com/car-insura ... e-trailer/
Given that we paid about $3k for our trailer new I don't think it has a separate policy but would have to check with my dad to be sure (he and my uncle are the other 2 that own it with me)

This. Also flatbed trailers have different marking requirements than box trailers because they're harder to see when it's dark and empty.

Re: Trailer
Put the brake controller into the avalanche. The wires you see are because it’s not plugged up incase it has a drain on the battery. It’s nice and clean. Doesn’t look like I’m gonna be that lucky on the Tahoe. Any suggestions so I don’t have to drill anywhere?

Re: Trailer
Mounted the battery box but I may want to move it to the other side I would like the controller for the remote next to the door. Where it’s mounted now it would be more mid of the trailer. Which isn’t a bad place, just not ideal.

Re: Trailer
Sunday at work I would like to:
Paint the tongue in por15
Instal the trailer part of the new sway hitch
Replace the broken plastic box and instal diode
Replace trailer battery
Remove the last of the vinyl on the outside
Finish the wiring support for the winch
Bolt down some plastic tubs on a shelf to store the straps.
Drill and attach angle iron to wheel chocks
Lots to do, that’s not even all I want to get done.

Re: Trailer
Yep and make sure you set it up correctly. I'd say close to half of them aren't set correctly, based on how the truck is squatting under the load of the trailer. (Also this is why leveling your truck is bad)

Re: Trailer
That was very helpful. Thank you. What does suck is I don’t have a way to load this trailer before going to get the ideal setting. Also it’s not like his driveway is long and flat. His parking area is a decent size and flat. But getting in and out has a steep entry/exit. The house is one of those built in the 40’s so think of your towns main streets or 1sts streets or maybe historic district. Amazing house. Love it. But I’m prob going to have issues getting in and out with the trailer. So I will prob have to set it all up in the driveway. Then change it all to allow maximum trailer movement getting in and out.

Re: Trailer
Is there a parking lot near by before you get on the highway?

Yes. Plenty of flat spots that I can play around with it. I prob can in the driveway before I exit, then change it.

Sounds like you need to now buy a 3/4 ton to get the job done. Well worth it for the sake of the project. I know the Ram Power Wagon version has the option for front and rear lockers.

Nope. Not happening. End of the day it will be around 4500lbs with the model A. The Tahoes tow limit is 6800. We do the trip in two days because of the kids. So just slow and steady. Wish I would have gotten the avalanche 2500 but it is what it is.
