You all have 48 hours

Post by DCIV »

To talk me out of buying a 03 Chevy 2500 crew cab with the 8.1 and Allison and 115k miles.

It’s a person. He’s taking the avalanche as trade. I’m paying 10k on top.

Ready. Go.

This summer I would have much rather trailered my car to the dragon than drive it. It stresses me out.

If I ever get a bigger boat I should have 3/4 ton truck. Or much newer.

And I only drive it 2k a year so why not?

Correct. Problem is the avalanche is very rusty. It’s bad. I don’t even step on the running boards anymore. It scares me. So him taking it and taking money off saved me. It’s also low miles.

That too. For instance there is a local one here for $9500 total. 2wd instead of 4wd, but still. And trucks fetch a premium here. 120k miles on it too.

Edit: looks like the 4wd ones around here are listed between 15-20 k for similar mileage

Ok so in that case I'd basically remove any value of the Avalanche and just consider it an easy way to get rid of it (similar to what I did with the CTS - and was actually surprised by what the dealership gave me as trade-in). That makes the value not bad at all imo.

Then it comes down to rideability and durability. I imagine the 2500 ride would be rough but you don't DD it. Mileage is not bad so I imagine you would get a lot of use out of it.

The deal is looking better to me.

That and the crew cabs are semi hard to find around here. That extended cab is stupid and everywhere. I think it’s a descent deal. I could go with a 6.0 and it be cheaper but I know I will always be like…why didn’t I get the 8.1. But I’m sure when I can’t get parts for the 8.1 then I will think the other way.

That’s true. But I do listen. Sometimes you all tell me things that I had no idea about. But I do like what I like.

I can't really, my best friend's dad had one of that era and it was an awesome truck. I used it to tow my parents 22' Centurion back then and it was crazy how much power it had to pull the boat.

The only thing sucking is the wife is threatening to quit her job. She’s having a real hard time with one student. Lawyers out of Nashville. It’s honestly horrible. I don’t blame her. And while I can do this with cash or a small payment. That cash maybe needed.

Oh 100%. But I still think this would sell easier than the avalanche if I need money. The avalanche is bad rusty. Parts of the body come off when I pull the boat out. If I have to sell it in a hurry I’m looking at 3000-3500. If I have to sell this in a hurry I’m looking at 12-14

But we will know more tomorrow.

It would definitely sell better for sure. I've been following the truck market up here and trucks don't last long at all.

Drive the Avalanche until it dies and put this money into an account to save for a Cybertruck. The way they're depreciating, you'll be able to get one under 40 in a few years.
I think about all the things we could have done, all the miracles we could have achieved, if we were all just a little bit better than it turns out we are.

That’s a great idea. But the way cyber trucks going down and some of these 8.1’s going up maybe I can meet them in the middle.

You'll probably need to keep the 8.1 to tow the Garbagetruck when it breaks down.
