What is the

Best 5-7ish span of years for cars?

Honestly, I love 90-97ish. We were getting to where we didn’t care to throw turbos on things, really step outside the box, some is the best designs overseas I feel was around then. Like I love when we just start saying screw if and make cool cars. It’s really coming back around but now we are also losing it to electric. Which don’t get me wrong has its own cool things…but still not as easy as an internal combustion engine yet.

97-04 gets you the end of the japanese super cars and then into the 2000s resurgence and things like the WRX, STi and Evo. In the US market anyways.

Except for being death traps.

I'd say now. You can get something like a Camry (aka a 4 door appliance) that drives in circles around most in the 90s or early 2000s. Safer. Better mileage. More comfortable. More power than ever. You have the insane supercars. You have EVs that are nuts. You have trucks that are basically supercars. And so forth.

Ya but imo don't have that "cool" factor of a classic muscle car at the height of the era.

I mean…a 1997 Supra can bring as much as almost all muscle cars….so an argument could be made that you are wrong.

I dunno I feel like the classic muscle cars are usually way over hyped.

How so?

Muscle cars for the most part are slower than everyone thinks, rode poorly, handle worse, loud, and uncomfortable. For example regular V8 mustangs were lucky to be mid to high 15 second cars. My 01 Maxima was a mid-15 second car, rode and handled nicely, and got nearly 30mpg. Was it as fashionable or cool as a classic muscle car? No but it a better car all around.

You made my point for me. Boring automatically ruins it for me. To me there is nothing cooler than a late 60s early 70s muscle car. That's why I feel they are the best. Have better cars been made since then? Absolutely. But none of them put a smile on my face, make me stop and stare, or sound as good as classic muscle.

Muscle cars are fun to look at, but for me thats about as far as it goes. They sound great but really dont have the performance to match. fucking big blocks could barely crack 300hp stock

This is true. Even when someone puts in more hp they still weigh a lot, and handle bad…they can do a lot now days to even help that but at the end of the day they have their looks going for them.

I’ll take a 70 hemi cuda looks over a lot of new stuff. Now give me an 2000 Diablo vt….or a 1999 mclaren f1. But I bet the cuda ride quality is about the same. lol.

15.1 ;)

Only if you exclude Japan

Personally this is tough. 95-02 is great. Gives you the last of obd1 but brings in obd2 where they actually got things figured out. Includes the pinnacle of the Maxima (02) and a whole lot of other great vehicles. Best s2k (ap1) 3s, z32, supra, m3, m5, lhd mr2, last of the real Nissan and Toyota trucks, dohc Montero, s14/s15, etc.

Really is a toss up with 15-22. They finally figured out vct, head designs, direct injection, turbos, etc. While you can't fool the new computers into thinking the cats are still there, many can be tuned and flashed. Something that is just barely possible on the early stuff and definitely not as reliable.
