Tool boxes
Looking at two different ones. The girlfriend and I are consolidating all of our tools, and want to get a decent homeowner sized box. Looking at these two:

and
https://www.homedepot.com/p/Husky-Indus ... /302962883
We get a military discount so that makes the Kobalt $540, and the Husky $810. Husky is larger and what my friend has at his shop and its pretty decent. The kobalt looks a little cheaper made.

Re: Tool boxes
I have the one (or maybe two up) from the first one and more like the second except the bottom draws are split in the middle with a couple full draws.
I hate to say this, but I wish it was bigger.

Re: Tool boxes
Harbor Freight has some good ones too.
I think about all the things we could have done, all the miracles we could have achieved, if we were all just a little bit better than it turns out we are.

Re: Tool boxes
I like the costco one..if choosing the smaller kobalt Id rather have the costco one.
Harbor freight has a bunch but I don't see the "combo" deals etc, and not being able to use one of those coupons makes those deals a little pale to me.

Re: Tool boxes
I just have a US General one from harbor freight. It's decent enough especially for the price.
Re: Tool boxes
Structurally its been solid. Its heavy and pretty well built. Rollers are better than most too. Ive only got heavy impact stuff in the lower drawer but handles it without issue. Also the drawers lock closed via a plastic spring loaded slide. Its not as fancy as some but they work just fine and made sure your crap doesnt roll out. The top hood has a lot of usable space too. Only gripe is I dont use the square cubby on the top right as much. Would have rather had extra drawers or larger ones.

Re: Tool boxes
I have my first one, a small craftsman I bought on Black Friday years and years ago. As its always has it, if Im upstairs I need a tools from downstairs. So Im gonna eventually bring that one up and stock it with the basics, wrenches, pliers, screw drivers, and a socket set. Then I will not feel bad if I have to walk down and get anything.
But my kolbalt is lightyears ahead of my cheap craftsman so I was curious.

Re: Tool boxes
Yea I dont think you would be disappointed if you got the Kirkland. Its big enough for most.

Re: Tool boxes
Good timing on this thread, as I probably need to get a bigger box for all the tools I have laying around my garage right now. My old Craftsman box isn't cutting it anymore.

Re: Tool boxes
Got the Husky. Not bad for $800!
Then went over to harbor freight to get a bunch of organizers and start in. We have quite a bit of organizing to do in the new house, including re-wiring the entire shop area.

Re: Tool boxes
The socket organizers make you realize how many sockets you DON'T have. I bought them recently then spent a ton of money 9n sockets to fill them up.

Re: Tool boxes
Nice shop. One day I keep telling myself Ill have one too. The Husky looks like a pretty nice setup as well.

Re: Tool boxes
Its a downgrade from the last one at the old house
But real estate is tough to come by the closer you get to Boston so...for the location its great. I wish I could have a two-bay with a lift.
Anddddd, yes....I'm going to go out and buy a shitload of sockets now! We have been separating based on 6/12 side sockets, and 1/4, 3/8, 1/2" each.
