Brake pads

I’ve never changed the brake pads on the vr4. No idea what’s in there. at the dragon I got brake fade, first time I’ve bad it in the vr4.

How much different would a set of pads help? Which ones the green ones? The red ones? Again, first time it’s ever happened. So it’s not like I need a lot but would like more stopping power if needed.

Super easy to do. Everyone has an opinion on which is best. All the upper level metallic pads are good.

Oh I’ve changed plenty of pads. Yes it is easy, I’ve even got new fluid in all the lines back when I did an abs delete. But never did the pads. I just don’t always know about the ones you need to “heat up” or what not. But I’m sure they are better than what’s on there now.

I'm not sure what's available for VR-4 calipers, but stop tech street performance pads work pretty well. I had them on my spec.B and use them on my Miata on the track.

I've got performance friction on my exploder. Only pads I could find that would hold up.

I killed street performance pads and powerstop truck/tow pads in no time

I like the Carbotech Bobcats on my Spyder. They work well on the street, and never had any problems stopping at the dragstrip. Never roadraced with them though, but seems like they’d hold up fine to some reasonable track use, for sure autocross. Supercar Engineering has them.

I had Porterfields on my Stealth. R4S I think. They were really good. My Audi had EBC Yellowstuff. Those were also really good. Neither one needed a ton of heat. They were high performance street pads. Not race pads.

Decide how much you care about brake dust though. All of those pads were pretty dusty. So are the OEM pads on my C7. But I'd rather clean the wheels weekly than install some soggy feeling low dust pad.

Carbotechs are best imo. Not a fan of stoptechs but thats my second go to because bobcats are expensive. havent had the opportunity to try the porterfields, but i hear good stuff about those.

I also have adapter plates to run gt500 brakes it would cost about 700-800 bucks so I’m debating on that as well.
