¿Problema?






I don't know what it is with this truck. Guy I got this truck from had the crank bolt break not long after a timing belt service. Had it fixed. Broke again and took out the crank sensor. That's how I got it. Crank was damaged so I put a crank in it.

I put probably 1500 miles on it with no apparent problems after fixing it. Well... Tip of crank bolt was broken and bolt was starting to back out. No damage yet but it was pretty fkn close. Trigger wheel spacer was in 2 pieces. Trigger wheel was just starting to contact the crank sensor.

That's a damn good price. There's one for sale locally here asking 10k with double the mileage... And a 3.0 gas.

I actually had a spare spacer and the original trigger wheel in my toolbox this entire time. Forgot about it until I got home and started the process of pulling a crank gear off a 72 I had sitting in the yard. (45 minutes later it's off after a torch, atf, 2 pry bars, a hammer, and an induction heater). Now I have 2 spacers

Figured it out. I fucked up.

The motor I pulled the crank from probably had the bolt break at some point before I got it. Looked at the crank and the old spacer I pulled from it (the one I had in my box), wear patterns looked similar so I slid it on and rotated it... Dropped right in and was a perfect match to the wear on the face of the crank. So when I put it together with the new spacer and sprocket things were just barely sitting there and likely wobbly wearing away as it ran.

Went ahead and put it together with the old worn in spacer and a good condition sprocket.

Gonna try to find a trashed Sorento to look into possibility of swapping the engine in. They changed the timing belt tensioner setup just enough that things don't interchange. If i can make the engine fit that will open up an entire catalog of parts availability. If not....3.8 time.

I also still have one more diamante 3.5 sohc sitting around. May pull that apart and make use of the crank (rebuilt my first white sr with diamante internals. Worked great)

Find one in a 98-00 body and id be interested.

engine? yeah theyre still too expensive. the only cheap ones are blown up. plus if i did i'd keep it. i love the blister fenders.

took it home at lunch today. runs as good as i remember. no stumble and great power. itll spin the tires a bit if i hit it hard off a stop.

Yea, they are a bit expensive still. I love the lines of that truck though.

Glad to see you got it running good. Hopefully you updated the harmonic balancer bolt to a shorter one. The extended ones are known for backing out or breaking. Pure garbage.

1100A141 is what went in there. it looks like a 3s bolt but does not have the 1/2 square hole in the head

Should be fine as long as it looks similar to the one on the right.

yep. thats it. my first had the old bolt. dont remember if i reused it or not but its long gone. ive kicked around using the kia bolt. its actually cheaper than the mitsu part and comes with the washer

Nope. All that mass is the problem. Keep it small. Over time the bolt backs out.
