So...he decides not to fix it. No signal from crank sensor. After he tells me I can have it I tear it down and found this...

Thats whats left of the spacer behind the crank trigger wheel.
Then I looked at the crank snout and key...

So I went ahead and did this...

Pulled one of my spare 3.5 cranks out and put it in. $14 later for a new oil pump gasket, key, and spacer and I'll be putting it back in this weekend.
So montero #1 was about 1200. Purchased for 300+tax and fees. 350 for diamante 3.5 from junkyard, 300 or so for a full gasket (OE)
Montero #2 was 950 and needed a fuse for the tcu so it would shift. He thought it was the trans computer and even gave me one he got from the junkyard (was really the cruise control ecu). This one needs a bottom end rebuild though. Knocks on startup.
montero #3 600 and 14 in parts. Has near new 31x10.50s on it too. The other 2 had shit tires.

No pic of #2. I'll get one tomorrow.
