Horrible. Unreliable. Time to trade it in and get something good.

Yours are cloth now?

Do the lightning seats have heat and cooling?

So....Ford did you dirty the same way they did the earlier trucks like mine.

There's two systems for the seats. Heated, and heated + cooled (climate controlled).

The heated seats are driven directly from your HVAC control panel in the dash.

The climate seats are driven via the CAN bus.

It's extremely unlikely you'll have the wiring to run the climate seats.

I have a zip file with the gen 14 wiring diagrams if you need them for anything.

This is all based on the assumption the Lightning seats work the same as the gas seats. They might not even run on the 12 volt system, and they likely have different software.

I did a different search and got this ... https://www.f150forum.com/f118/lariat-s ... ost7588608

So yeah they'll work better require some modifications.

Looks like they changed up the power supply fuses in your truck too. That may be because they changed the climate seat system to a new style in 2018 though.

I wonder if you could disassemble the seats and just move your heating elements over?

Ashely’s Explorer seats run over CAN too I’m guessing. When we had to have her passenger side seat climate control fixed, it required a new module. It’s not working again and I’m not sure if it’s the seat TCU, the module, or something in the wiring.

Funny you mention that. I was just reading this: https://www.f150forum.com/f118/heated-c ... fix-440863

Check and see if you have a melty ground.

It's also worth noting that the gen 14 trucks have 3 ground wires going to that seat module. I guess they finally got the clue.

Yeah that seems like the easiest way to go. Apparently the seat occupancy sensor isn't compatible either. I'm also wondering about if they made programming changes to the 24 Lightning like they did on the regular F-150.

I may have to check this out. Her drivers side still works. So it’s strange. I wonder where the modules are for the explorer.

What is interesting is they're bringing back a variant of the Space White. That color is very similar to Avalanche, a bit more white, but now it has a metal flake in it. I do worry these pastel grays will become somewhat dated quickly.

They’re also getting rid of the keypad entry as standard. That’s annoying. That’s the feature I miss most on my RS

Yeah it's a good feature and a lot of people are mad they've eliminated it.

I use my buttons all the time to get in/out when I dont have the key on me, or in the winter when I pre-heat. So I can lock the doors and leave it.
