Coop wants to buy a side-by-side to commute down the hill to his dad's house, and he wants to buy a trailer to move one car, once, but he balks at a $300 trailer hitch.
Exactly!!!! I want big objects. Not small ones. Lol

Feeling underwhelmed?

This is why I have a problem with 300.

https://amzn.to/3l93b8x

100 cheaper and has some sort of anti vibration.

Honestly. I just want to borrow one. The ones we use for the boat and everything else are 2” and the receivers all work perfect. So I don’t really NEED this. Not that I don’t want that.

Let’s talk how to lock this thing up so it can’t get stolen.

Now that’s something I would spend some money on.

Locame? Is that some Chinesium shit?

Locks only slow someone down and won't ever completely stop anyone from stealing it. I just use the locking pin from Weighsafe it's the same key for all the locks.

Yea that looks like cheap harbor freight stuff. Get a quality one that locks up well.

I have one similar in design to the Weighsafe, but it doesn't have the built-in scale. I figure if I can't lift the tongue by hand then it's probably too heavy. But I'm just towing around a pair of Seadoos most of the time, sometimes the car trailer and that's only like 6000 pounds with a car on it.

Don't cheap out on the hitch. Buy one that's beefier than you think you need. Busting a hitch is a bad fucking day.

So I have a buddy that had a car hauler stolen and I asked him which trailer lock he used when it’s unhooked. He suggested a master lock that stick up in the ball. A local shop has one. I will pick it up sometime.

Also looking at other places to keep it. I have a buddy that will let me but he’s a solid 30 mins away. My next door neighbor has a car hauler and two cars sitting on a flat spot that I may ask and the in-laws have a lot of land and don’t care how things look so I might try there. All a lot closer. I will prob take this to work a couple times to get it all out fitted where I can work on it in somewhat peace. To get it ready to take.

If you wanna go insane, I found this lock:

https://altorlocks.com/pages/pre-order- ... ler-lock-1

I use a steel one that's a two piece with a bottom that has a ball on it, and wraps around in a "U" around the coupler, and then there's a 1" steel pin that goes through the top of the U, and a padlock goes on the end of the pin. Probably cuttable by anyone determined, but it is better than nothing.

I was going to make a joke about the Lock Picking Lawyer going after it, but it seems he's given it his seal of approval.

Simply put - it is one of the best you can buy.

I would not hesitate to use ..."

Ohhhhhh snap. That seems like exactly what I need!

Good find. I bought a master lock that I can put on while I wait for this thing.

Also where I’m storing it makes me feel much better. My father in law has a lot of flat land that I’m gonna keep it at. They also live there. The other place is a farm that a buddy bought that he’s redoing the house while living in another. So he’s there….but not. Also father in laws I can park back in the woods a little to make it even harder to get out.

If you want to know if a lock is good, the lock picking lawyer is an excellent resource. And, you'll soon find out, that most locks are not good.

Those Lock Picking Lawyer videos are pretty eye-opening. Stuff that seems reasonably secure often isn't secure at all.

Locks in general are just a deterrent. If someone wants your shit nothing is going to stop them.

Completely true. But a lot of locks are just plain garbage and can be opened or defeated in seconds.

Have you ever watched his video on the police car gun rack / lock? It's absolutely shameful. A toddler could open this thing.
