They've been somewhat hit and miss for me. Their truck and high performance options have been generally good. The crossover SUV ones we had on the outback had good performance but much shorter tread life than I would have expected.

This. The Defender is good for on highway (though that Pirelli is also pretty good), and their high performance summer and all season tires are the best. The rest of their lineup is lack luster and there are better options.

For passenger car tires, and crossover SUV tires, the Goodyear Assurance WeatherReady is the best tire hands down in my opinion.

I have the pilot sport all season 4 on my Maxima and absolutely love them.

Went from blowing the tires off on a 2nd gear roll to just squeaking them in 1st rolling punch (in the dry. Wet is still a spin fest even on a highway punch). They still spin and leave 11s but they don't boil like the other garbage that was on there.

Michelin crossclimate 2 on the Kia soul and wife loves them. Great all seasons. Have Yokohama geolandar on the outback. They are OK. No real complaints just want something more aggressive.

Have pilot all season 3+ on my RS for winter time. Love them. Had them on my ST too, and my stealth for a while

I had the MPSAS+ on my old Legacy spec.B and loved that version too.

Mom has those on her Maxima. They're what made me get them for mine but I didn't know until after the fact they got updated.

Also note, once the Pilot Super Sports that came stock on the RS are used up, and the current Pilot Sport AS3+ are as well, it will get Pilot Sport AS4 (or whatever number they're at by then) all the time. I don't track it, and hate changing tires out 2 times per year. And no, I'm not getting a second set of wheels for it.

Are the super sports the racing compound?

No. Just a sticky compound. Michelins summer performance tires go like this:

Pilot Super Sport
Pilot Sport 4S (this is basically the next gen Super Sport)
Pilot Sport PS2 (this is similar to the Super Sport and 4S, but with a bit more grip, used on a lot of OE cars like M3 etc.)
Pilot Sport Cup 2 (this is the tire that is basically a race tire for the street)
Pilot Sport Cup 2R (even better than Cup 2)

Hmmmm. I want something good on the vr4 here not too long. I’m gonna have to read up on these.

If you want the best summer only tire, and not wanting to go to the track more than once or twice, Pilot Sport 4S is the best all around summer tire you can get.

Pilot Sport 4S are good down to 20 degrees F. Below that and they’ll start to lose traction quickly. Also they won’t work in any kind of snow period.

Yeah, Michelin may claim 20°, but anything below 45 I'd exercise caution, especially when wet. My summer tires on my Miata were super sketchy below 45, especially when wet.

I mean I won't be driving mine if the roads are wet when it's that cold anyway. But Michelin does say down to 20 (that's one of the reasons I got them over the all seasons when I got the new wheels and tires).

I was really considering the 4s but decided not to just for that reason.
