The passenger side rear door will not open unless you pull it open immediately after the unlock is pushed.

No one on the Facebook chimed in when asked about it. Guess I’ll go searching forum. It’s prob a bushing but it’s annoying.

Well the first chance to tow something decent has shown itself. The best man in my wedding is getting married. He’s doing it at his house. It’s a small house and lots of people. No hotels anywhere near. So I think I’m gonna rent a camper. I’ve found one for 115 a night. I think I will also load up the 4 wheeler to bring as we will be setting up and taking down. It could come in handy. The avalanche would have been able to do the size I’m thinking, and the 4 wheeler but it would have been much harder on it.

More info to come.

Havnt installed the lines yet. Found a trans cooler I wanted to add. The Allison runs warmer than most trans that I’ve dealt with. It’s not just mine, just them in general. I’ve always heard 100 plus the temp outside and you never really want it in the 220’s. Well mine runs about 120-140 then outside air. This bigger cooler is suppose to drop it 20/30 degrees.

Is it a big deal to put all these things in with no fluid in them? Then add once I start it up? Or should I leave the trans end of the lines not connected and pump fluid through it till it comes out the other side?

Installed new LED door markers as all but one of the factory ones had lost their lenses.

It really bugged me opening up the door and seeing a broken part. Plus they didn’t put out shit for light. You open any new car and you can see anything. I use to never understand the foot well lights. Infact I almost use to think they were rice. Now I like them. Lol

Why do people do this?! Lol

Image
Getting this line out was a major pain in the butt! Getting it back in was even harder.

Image
What I started with.

What I ended with.

I had aftermarket lines. I didn’t end up using them for a couple reasons. One, I don’t believe I had the correct to come out of the Allison transmission. Second, I didn’t like how close the lines would be to the exhaust and felt the factory metal is a better solution. And third, I didn’t think the shortest hose was long enough.

So there went 200 bucks. But it only cost 30 bucks to get fixed at napa. So there ya go. Over all no leaks right now. I still need to drive it and recheck.

I would say there was prob half a qt of fluid in the lines and what not. I had to add basically 2qts to get it to the almost full on cold. So that’s how much bigger this cooler is. We will see if it helps my temps.

Drove it all, got the trans temp to 160 and no leaks. Went ahead and did a “all lights” mod while in there. Basically you ground out the regular beams so that when you turn on your brights the low beams stay on as well. I had it on the avalanche and loved it but it was a little circuit board in the fuse panel.

Also put an extra clamp on the lower radiator hose. It looked like the radiator was leaking. Maybe it is. But online people say that clamp fails, I’ve never had a clamp fail, but I put an extra one on it and it seems to have stopped that very small seepage. Also last week I checked the transfercase as lots talk about pump rub. Mine was clean and perfectly filled. Looked dry everywhere as well. Still need to check front and rear diff before summer.

So overall, got some good stuff done to the truck.

I really do not like how close these lines are to the exhaust. That’s 4L of exhaust right at that hose. They put a heat shield to block the pan from exhaust temp but not these hoses. So I bought some heat shield tubing to cover them. I am sure while moving it’s not a big deal but if you are stopped…that has to put so much heat on the hoses that JUST cooled the dang fluid. Lol.

I bought a trailer light tester for a couple reasons. One, the previous mentioned brake controller didn’t light up. Also the previous installed reverse camera doesn’t come on and it’s hooked up to the 12v of the trailer power.

So these are cheap and since I will be going to pick up a rv for the first time towing I didn’t want any surprises. If anyone gets one, my turns did not work when in park.

One line

Two lines.

The sticky tape that was attached to these weren’t very sticky. So I had to go back over it with the stuff I use for powder coating. I need to get it really hot and check it as it may need some clamps. I could see it getting really hot, then wet it might wanting to come off. If I don’t remove it when the part is hot then it’s also near impossible to get off. So maybe not.

Finally got a good 30 min drive. It’s 59 here today. I saw the temp get up to 167 then back down to 155. Stopped and let it idle for 8ish mins while I had to get something, went back up to 167 and just stayed. That is much better than what it was before the cooler. I’m perfectly happy with this temp. I was seeing 180 plus on much cooler days and all this without towing.

Took the truck into work and used our carpet shampooer.

Then I went to town on the floor mats. I cleaned them with what we use for our fire gear, scrubbed them with a hard brush, hosed them off. Dried. Smelled like wet dog.

Then put them in the washer…dried…same wet dog/bad smell.

So I ordered a new set.
