Cheap fun V8 toy

Post by Duck Vader »

As I was talking about in chat/shout/or whatever is it called now, we were planning on moving in about 10 years, but now we might be doing that in the next 2-3 so not going to drop $40k on a toy. Danielle was offered a position a bit north of here. My job would be better if we lived more north, and my mother wants to move up here around the Leavenworth/Wenatchee area (about 2 hours north). Yes I can afford the $40k, but I also want to play it smart. Plus would be great to have a shop before I get a classic muscle to work on.

But I still want/need a fun car to drive. Outback is paid off and great, but not fun, and truck is relaxing and nice, but not fun.

So I don't want to spend too much. Thinking $10-15k or so, maybe close to $20 at most for a fun toy for the next few years then I will sell it before I get my $40K+ classic muscle.

Toying around with the idea of a 2nd gen camaro or a 4th gen f-body. Thought vette, but also want something I don't care about beating on and not sure if I would want to do that to a C5.

I had that 12 Mustang GT and kind of want to play around with a GM. So looking at Chevy and Pontiac.

Anything else I should be looking at?

Get a cheap C5. Can make power easy with the LS1, and who cares if you beat on it, it's a C5

C5 or C6
Pontiac G8 GT or GXP
1st gen CTS-V

2010+ Chevrolet Caprice cop car. You'll definitely fit, and there's no possibility you can beat it worse than it's already been beaten.

I think about all the things we could have done, all the miracles we could have achieved, if we were all just a little bit better than it turns out we are.

The Caprice used a Gen IV L77. 362hp, 6.0L. LS-family engine.

Its basically a super stripped down Chevy SS. I kind of want one myself.

Bonus points for the cop car. Find one with the factory dual battery system and drive Coop nuts.

I've been intrigued by the caprice cop cars, but I'm always worried about how abused they are

The 3.6 V6 was the base engine, but it seems like a lot of them have the 6.0.

This one is actually fairly tempting if things weren't so crazy right now. https://www.carsforsale.com/vehicle/details/97230928

Only thing I really have against them is they are not cool looking and don't feel like a "toy" to me.

It's cheap, it has a V8 and it's a sawz-all away from being loud.

Today was frustrating.

Driving truck to the gym. Just enjoying driving it. I like it.

See a 69 chevelle in deep red/maroon like color.

A couple minutes later see a 67 camaro.

Park truck at gym and as I'm getting out a beautiful black C5 with an obvious cam and exhaust mods.

Come home and neighbor across the street has a visitor over with a 68 camaro.

Wife texts me saying she had a dream I bought a trans am.

Oy...
