That V8 tho...

Re: That V8 tho...
Thanks. I'll try the steel wool first, then acid if that doesn't work.
I think about all the things we could have done, all the miracles we could have achieved, if we were all just a little bit better than it turns out we are.
Hmm. I might have to try that. I found a used on on eBay for $75 shipped, so I really don't have anything to lose.
It seems like a silly thing given the overall condition of the truck, but I see it every single time I get in. It bothers me.
Steel wool works wonders. If you have chrome it will bring it back to NEW (unless pitted). Its pretty remarkable to watch.

So much for SafetyRestore.
It was communicating just fine. I pulled the codes and other info before I took it out to send it off.We received your order and unfortunately looks like one of your airbag modules cannot be repaired due to an internal communication error with the chip. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause. We will be issuing you a full refund for the item. Please give us a call if you have any questions or concerns. Thank you.

Hmm, try a different company maybe. Might be worth to try one more before you have to just get a new module.

At this point I'm only out $12ish for shipping, so that might not be a bad idea.
I've got a hunch that it was just fine, and they simply don't have reset data for such a niche part.

The steel wool killed it. It didn't take me much more than 5 minutes. Part of that was just getting the mud off so I could get started.

I ended up buying another airbag module off eBay. I threw that in today and it passed the initial tests. I still need to get the curtain airbags back in. I've been dragging my feet on that because I want to do something else while they're out.

Finally put the rest of the airbag parts in yesterday. No codes, no light. Still need to get the headliner and trim back in, but that's contingent on this other project I'm working on.

Re: That V8 tho...
Hummer is not happy today. It was absolutely fine last night when I was out running errands after work.
Started up this morning and it kinda idled funny and groaned a little. It was 30 degrees, so not that surprising. Got in to leave, and it just didn't feel right. Like it was down on power. Gave it a little more gas, and it slammed into 2nd gear. Ok...not good. The trans is always a little cranky when it's cold, so maybe I'll give it a few more minutes to warm up.
It barely made it up the big hill by my house. I ducked into a side street and came straight back home. Less than 2 miles total. I haven't had the chance to check for codes yet. I'm hoping it's just a dirty filter or something. That's one thing I haven't changed, and I should have. I'll stuff it in the garage this weekend and swap it out.
But if that doesn't fix it, then I don't know what's next.

What does the MAF have to do with this?
