Maft Pro "experts"... I need your help

Post by Terry »

So my car doesn't idle. Sometimes not at all. Other times when pushing in the clutch coming to a stop the RPM's just drop to 0. Even when I rev it at idle the rpms just keep dropping till it eventually dies.

So unless someone has an idea what this is I think I'm just gonna reset the unit and go back to a basic speed density config. However since there is no documentation that isn't as easy as it sounds. The maft-pro thread is pretty much dead on 3si so I doubt I'll get a response from there.

Basically I just need the basic config settings if anyone has them.

I'm sorry Terry, but I have no experience with the MAFT Pro, but have you ruled out the possibility that it's not a throttle body issue (dieing ISC, BISS turned in too far...)?

Have you tried getting in touch with TurboBob?

Lemme see if I can get DarkHelmet to look at this...

Is it a problem where the rpm's surge at all or is it going smoothly and just dieing?

Terry,

go into the config list on the unit and post what all the settings are currently at. also p[ost any fuel or air flow adjustments. also I need to know what your current mod list looks like, if your keeping it a secret pm me with it. I have extensive knowledge of these things and I'll do what I can to help.

Greg - Not a TB issue. I went through that last year and replaced pretty much everything in there.

Steve - Main mods are street grind cam and stage 3 heads, lightweight flywheel, custom intake with K&N to eliminate the MAS. That's all I can think of that would have an affect.

I went through and zero'd all the settings to make sure that wasn't the issue. I'll post my default settings when I get a chance to look at it. You don't happen to have a list of what they should be though, do you?

With that said I was actually able to get it to sorta run during lunch when I messed with some settings. It stalled a few times on the way to lunch but when I got here it would idle fine. However when getting on it it's lean in the lower rpm's (enough to make it noticably slow) then around 5000 it jumps to rich and picks it up some.

are you running it with or without a maf? wideband O2? Timing adjustment?

I'm looking for the default setting list. I have it here somewhere

No Maf...just going speed density.

I have a wideband that I think is screwed up (jumps all over the place) so I have a new one coming. Pretty sure I have AFR tracking turned off (anyway to verify that?) so I don't think that'll be affecting anything.

Timing is set to 0 across the board. One question I do have though and can't find any documentation on is what should spk base be at?

Terry,

I think all my docs for the T-pro are on my laptop at home. I'll go through it tonight and hopefully I'll have all your settings mapped out for you by morning.

Awesome...I really appreciate it. Hopefully I have one setting that's just off a little bit and that's causing everything.

for the following parameters I am assuming that you are using a gm map sensor and have an air temp sensor installed. and an LC01 wide band

Vehicle select: 1
cyl: 6
Air Srce: 1
Map Srce:0
Baro mode:0
F-out mode: 3
arf srce:1
F-in mode 0

set the lean and rich limit to 0% to disable the auto afr tracking. let me know what happens.

Vehicle select is 1? The documentation says 0 and everyone else says set it to 2. :p

I'll have to throw those in tonight if I get a chance. Would bumping the TPS limit over 5 do the same thing for AFR tracking and adjusting the rich limit?

Wait, the MAFTPro makes its adjustments based of TPS voltage and not boost pressure?

Sorta hard to make it on boost pressure when you don't have boost. ;)

Well, MAP signal...

...but then again, if you're elminating the stock maf, you already are basing your corrections on the MAP signal.

Exactly. From what I've seen the MAFT-Pro is pretty much the same as the emanage pro with a few little extras. I haven't dug too far into it (just the setup and main tune) so I'm sure Steve could get more into what it does.

Steve - Are you still running v4.4? My menu's look a little different than that however with some tinkering I was able to get it to run much better.

It still occasionally stalls but only if it's idling for a while and I think I might have it too rich at idle. However since my wideband is fubared I don't have much to go from but since my narrowband is on rich (and not cycling) that tells me it's not right.

I turned of the AFR tracking and that took care of most of the problems when going WOT. I still have a spot between 3500-5500 or so where it goes to lean and the rest of the pull is rich. Any ideas on what would cause that? All the tables are set to 0.
