Go to Autozone and buy remanned front 2G Twin Turbo remanufactured brake calipers for a little over $100 each (rotors and pads are extra). The part numbers are C8916 and a C8917.

Not a bad deal.

I'm still waiting for a VR-4 brake kit to pop up in the classifieds. The N/A brakes are a joke.

I'm going to get one of the big brake kits for the DSM's - I don't want TT brakes as they so severely limit the tire choice, and for most FWD's the TT brakes are overkill. The Baer kit looks real nice imho.

Dont you have to get a new bracket to mount the calipers? Or just new rotors?

If you have a 1G VR4, the brakes just swap on.

I need to double check this, but I'm 90% sure if you have an NA (any year) you need the hub & knuckle assembly from a TT.

Not really. You just have to make sure the wheel has >35mm off set & 17" diameter is all.

You can never have too large of brakes no matter what the car. More surface area of pad & caliper piston is good. FWD TT's can go just as fast as an AWD in terms of top speed. ;)

Nope - don't work that way. You also have to look at the spoke shape. The rims I bought for my SL are 40mm and 18". There is about 1.5" of space betwen the spoke and my caliper, but the spoke will hit on a TT.

Disgree again. You get too much brake and you start to run into the problem of flat-spotting your tires. You need enough brake to bring the car down to a stop WITHOUT locking, and dissipate the heat in a timely manner without warping.

As for the FWD TT vs AWD: Yeah, we get going as fast, but have 15% less weight to have to stop. ;)

I bought some cal's from ametuerzone back in 2000 and i mounted them up only to find out my wheels (91vr4) wouldnt fit back on

I had to bring them back and get different ones until i got a pair that fit (back then they only had 1 part number)

On a side note, i bought some 2nd gen rears from checker and brought back 1st gen rears as cores :hahaha: checker

for TTs all you need are calipers and rotors. pads are interchangable.

for NAs you need knuckle, caliper, rotor, (i think hub), and some say outer tie rod end.

i had 2G stealth calipers behind my 1G stealth TT wheels...required a couple hours with a grinder and some finesse. still have those calipers too.

Brakes are for sissies.

Warped NA brakes and a 150 shot FTW.

I told my dad yesterday that my brake booster is going out in my truck.

His response: Better make sure your horn works.
