Kart starter

Many of you may not know or may not have read but when I first got the karts I needed a dedicated starter for it. Seeing as how when they were racing these things battery powered drills were not a thing. So they used these huge hand held starter, battery, carrying thing.

If you use a drill when the starter tool then when it catches your wrist is lucky to survive. I tried to add a ratching adapter like you would to a breaker bar but any movement and it would switch to neutral and bam, your wrist.

Until I made this.

This is a tap ratching tool. Has a physical switch instead of a twist one on the socket.

Taken apart

A swivel I didn’t need already punched apart.

So close to fitting with no work.

Looks like it’s almost made for it.

With just making it so it fits through.

Drive cut down

And all together.

Still need to make the other side fit in the drill but that’s pretty easy.

Did put the 10mm long allen head I use to start it and did it by hand. Haven’t turned down the end to go in the drill yet.

How's the tooth count. I would be worried with low tooth count and it still wanting to grab a little.

You know I don’t know. I just know this one will not switch directions when it turns and I can swap end, unlike the real starters, so if I end up using it on 4 strokes or different things all together I have an option.
