Wasn't even in the market yet. Was stopping by a dealer for Danielle to sit in a C4. This was on the lot. Listed that day. We test drove it. While on the test drive 5 other people came up to check it out. We bought it.

1968 Camaro RS 350 SBC 3 speed auto. 57k miles. Originally green. Recently painted white but a west coast car. All original glass and nice interior. The paint is shit and was done to hide obvious bad bondo, but my neighbor across the street has a full garage and all the tools needed to do body work. Got it for a decent price. No rust outside of the normal spots that we can tell. Definitely needs work, but we bought it as a project. It runs and shifts great, so no issues there. Needs a new gas tank, rear suspension fixed, obvious body work, add A/C, fix headlights, etc. A true project but one that can be driven as is.

Already have a list of things we are going to start with. Tilt steering column and new steering wheel. New gas tank and new rear leafs to start. Previous owner had some weird ass wheels and tires so they tried to mess with the suspension. You can see the shackles in the back to try and make it sit higher. Single leaf springs. So will get rid of the shackles and probably new leafs while in there.

Why are the rear leaf springs so far back? Looks like a great project car. Good job.

We think they installed the wrong ones when trying to raise the rear for the bigger wheels and tires. Easy fix since just extended shackles and the springs look long. Relatively cheap and easy fix.

Shame the paint is shit. It looks good in white. I'm sure you guys will come up with something cool for it though. I'm excited for you and I'm excited to see the progress. It's great you're doing it together.

She wants some shade of blue with white accents.

It was rallye green from the factory. You can see the original color in one spot under the trunk lid. She hates green. Lol.

Might start sanding down some of the spots that look rough to see how much rust might be hiding.

I wouldn't expose it to air until you're ready to deal with it properly.

Also, started to peel some paint. Under the white is maroon. Under maroon factory rallye green

Always liked the early Camero’s and firebirds. Nice cone shaped bodies. White looks great to.!

Not exactly this blue, but very close, is the color she wants to eventually paint it. And wants the white stripes too like this.

Stripes like that look so much better on older cars. Even the chrome doesn't bother me. It's of its time.

Danielle wants to keep it as original as possible. Found out it is not the original engine after finding the casting number, but it is a sbc 350. She wants to keep that along with the carb. If it eventually does need a new engine, it will probably be another 350, or if I want to deal with all the work for it, a 396. But keeping it "old school" as much as we can for the most part.

350 is a good little setup. Plenty of cheap parts too. You'll have to upgrade the trans and possibly the diff if you go 396. I have a buddy that is die hard Chevy and makes some ridiculous builds. He spent too long trying to make 350's and 383 strokers work but consistently blew them all up. Turns out 396's were his key. He builds most with that powertrain now.
