How unreasonable

Am I being about wanting the 8.1 truck?

I know I am being because a 6.0 would do the job. Or maybe switch makers.

I just know that truck will go up in value later on. Who makes big blocks anymore? No one. But finding one is a bitch! So on a scale of 1-10, how unreasonable.

On a scale from 1-Coop I'd say a 9.6

I've been trying to convince him to find an 07-13 Escalade EXT. It'd be everything he loves about the Avalanche, but with more power, a better transmission, and more capability. There were also some rare 6.0 Canadian market Avalanches, but finding one of those in the US, let alone in good condition, is extremely difficult.

I guess I am concerned with the awd system. How good is it compared to the 4x4 system? We all know how I feel about snow. Is it gonna hate the tight turns of my driveway?

Also it seems like all avalanches rust out. Finding a non rusted caddy would be hard as well. But I bet less people towed with them and prob kept better care of them.

How many 07+ Avalanches have you looked at? About the only thing it has in common with your truck is the name and basic shape. I think GM changed their rustproofing process when they went to the GMT900 platform. They just don't seem to be as prone to heavy rusting as the older trucks. As you said, an Escalade would have likely been taken better care of on average.

I don't even know what you're saying about AWD systems. 3 of the 4 vehicles you currently own are AWD.

Before I bought mine I did look at a couple 07 avalanches. They do rust but not as bad as mine. But they added foam in between the panels and they all rust as well.

I mean am I gonna have to be tearing up my yard for a wheel to spin for the awd system to do anything? Wife’s car isn’t awd. So only two of my current vehicles are awd.

Your Tahoe has a 4-auto mode, so it's part time AWD if you want it to be.

Honest question. Is that how the caddy system works? As man I’ve had 3 vehicles with the auto and it can be pretty violent.

I think the Cadillac system is full time AWD with a switchable 4Hi lock mode.

Found a 01 4x4 with an aluminum flatbed and 100k miles. It’s 6 hours away. He’s gonna get me pictures, videos, and seems like a really nice guy.

Talked to this guy today. 101k miles. 4x4. It’s 7’10” wide.

He’s willing to work on the price. I am 90% sure it’s had its rockers replaced and it was starting to rust and they sprayed it all under it.

Between the wider and the rust I will prob pass.

Same price as the quad cab 8.1 and older than it. I don’t see a benefit?

Ahhh. I don’t think I could buy a car without seeing it and I’m not driving it back. Just too far.

Is 199k too much for the 8.1? I was ready to buy a 180k one but it had a salvaged title.

Removing the engine as part of the argument the '03 is ridiculously overpriced for the year and mileage compared to what I see up around here. I don't know how much extra you want to pay over the top for the engine choice.

It’s the engine. How many of those you see are 8.1? It’s diesel tq out of a gas engine.
