Golf cart

After a day of all the hoops to jump through. After I thought I had it all planned out. I bought a golf cart.
It’s older, a 2000, but it’s in great condition, extended roof. The couple bought it a year earlier for 4k and then put it in the gaeafe and hardly used it. I got it for 2500 today. It’s running a little rich, I am betting old gas isn’t helping, and it has one belt that is dry rotting. And lastly it’s green :puke: but it drives great, has a stereo, seats and tires in great condition. Plus, I could easily sell it for 3500 if it doesn’t work out.
I was going to use the neighbors trailer. Got permission. Set it all up. Ended up there is a lock he didn’t know about and he’s out of town. Called a fireman, his was full of stuff. Ended up getting a retired fireman’s enclosed. Lost his lock that fit everything, as it’s some master set up with one key. So great. I’m off. But then the golf cart wouldn’t fit in with the top on! So I had to take the top off…but I didn’t have any tools. Luckily they did. He is a retired cop so it’s one of the reasons I got it over others. But other issues and what not. Here it is unloaded.
More to come when back together.

Sounds like quite the ordeal to get it but it does look pretty good

I just noticed the SS badges on the wheels.

Loving those chomies. The green, not so much.
So what's the plan with this? Hitting up all the courses on the lake?

Deff a vinyl wrap. Prob stiffer suspension in the rear. We did that to our other one and it helped. Right now I just need to drain the old gas and put in new, get it tuned right, and adjust the translation from its starter to the engine. It lunges too hard on the transition.

Changed the belts. Sprayed a ton of carb cleaner, was gonna take the carb off but couldn’t find the carb stuff I like. It use to be at HF but wasn’t.
Adjusted a bunch of stuff. Re-adjusted. Think I got to go quit backfiring and also not lunge so hard when switching to and from the starter. I think the throttle was a little too open so when it transferred it did HARD. That also made it so the throttle plate never really fully closed when off the throttle. Thus backfire. The main forum said that screw can be thrown away on golf carts. So I backed it all the way out.
I would like to do the valves as everyone says it’s super easy and made world of difference. It still just revs ways higher in neutral than a gear. I don’t expect the exact same but it’s no where close.

I had to cut the power and ground wire to the stereo when removing the top. Hooked that back up but they said they never used it and I can’t get it to turn on. I can trace power to the connector that goes into the stereo holder but could not get power at the actual connector TO the stereo. I think my probs were too big. Or I hope. If jeff has time he is gonna make me a make shift harness to try but this cd player off of a battery so I don’t have to cut all my stuff up. All fuses good but can’t get it to power on.
Hooked back up the windshield and pretty much done with it for a little. Just gonna use it.

Glad to see it running fairly well. I had an old co-worker turn his into an offroad 4x4 machine. It was pretty sick.

Ordered a shorter belt. It’s apparently like changing gear ratio. I think I will go with the 28 degree ramps as it’s what I think mine needs for our hill with people. But the shorter belt will tell me what it will be like for 20 bucks.
I need to figure out how to turn down the idle or take off speed.

Sounds like a carb adjustment.

Adjusted the valves. Made a little difference. Not the difference I was reading online.

New belt came in. It’s not shorter. It’s like a mm wider. I can’t get it on right now though.
Did drain the gas and put in fresh. It’s running a little better. Still backfires every once in a while. I guess it’s not closing the throttle all the way even with the idle screw all the way out. So I’m tempted to adjust the rod connecting to it some.

Being wider, it will sit higher in the pulleys, effectively making it behave like a shorter belt.

Sports line 6098. Just a cheap option to try if I wanted the diff ramps.

Got the belt changed. Like how it didn’t roll till the motor took over. That also took care of the buck. Also seemed to have a little better get up and go, maybe not. Deff little less top speed, which is good. So I will run it for a little and see what I think.
Still backfires. Odd.

Curious - what do you use it for? Or plan to use it for? Go down to the water etc?
