Let’s talk about autocross

My oldest moves driving the go carts in gatlenburg and I have thought that autocross would be a fun way that (when she is old enough) can start to learn about the vr4. Or any vehicle for that matter. There is an even in Bristol oct 22 and I was thinking about just going and walking around it with her. She may not like it. She may.

But in the meantime. SCHOOL ME BAWC!

Love it. Haven’t done it since I moved, but I’m thinking once I fix another car I’ll probably take the gti out. As a kid you can autocross before you have a license, depending on the group. SCCA track night in America is also a good place to start, though that’s more of an instructor led road course though.

Do it. It cost very little to get started. Most places loan out helmets too. Make sure your car doesn't leak and take everything loose out of it, including floor mats.

Playing around and looking at go karts. Seems there are cool electric ones. Ninebot, where the frame extends and contracts. Easy to set speed control. The only thing I hate about that is it’s not gas. But the whole family could kind of race on it if we wanted to. Couple batteries and a generator and have fun all day.

On the other hand a gas one and just something to control the throttle you could control the speed. I did read some say their kids felt better, or less intimidated, with electric over gas.

Don’t know. Have plenty of time to figure it out. Hell might not like it. Just wanted to know options when out there.

Oh, go-carts. Not much experience there. You should take your 3S to a track and have your kids ride along. ;)

I will auto cross the 3/s if they like it. I am gonna take it up there the day of. I think it will also be a good way to get them to understand the 3/s before they ever get to drive it. I will also let them ride. But I want them to drive as well. The only thing they can really drive right now would be go carts.

Makes sure your local autox group supports carts and kids before you go get one. Not all local chapters of SCCA do.

Ohhhh. Good to check. The video I watched said an 8yr old and talked about both parents have to sign off. So I think the one I’m going to at least does. I’m sure many don’t.

That’s amazing!!! How long till I want to put a bigger engine on it. Lol.

I’m excited about this first fact finding day. I’m sure a lot will be answered and more questions will come up.

It was autocross. What do you mean which event?

Also a Porsche gt3 might be the most amazing sounding car I’ve heard.

Pics...because it happened. Was just wondering the details on weather or not you ran, or attended, etc.

You going to do it again?

I would like to run. I would only do it if I have a way to tow the car back incase worst happens. But also would be fun if the kids had something. Weather was great, little windy so the women were cold but we had a blanket. It was cool and different for them. I emailed the main person to ask about kids.
