Bad decisions with toy cars. Flood Boxster vs E90 335i vert

Which one is the worse decision.
2008 335i convertible with 99k miles.

Or 2006 Boxster with 150k miles a flood rebuild back in 2016.

I don't think IMS bearing is an issue on the Boxster. If it was going to fail, it would have done so by now. But...flood history.
But the BMW has that high pressure fuel pump thing. Vira's friend, who put this whole convertible idea in her head in the first place, just went through the fuel pump problem with her 07 335i sedan.

No boxster S, no care. Beamer looks like a Jersey Shore prop.

Vira wants a convertible around 10k. If anyone has better ideas, go for it. I like the idea of the 3 series because of the hard top, but it's just such a frumpy looking car. Even with a wrap.
My preference is Boxster or Solstice (or Sky).

Oh I like the Sky a lot.
335 has 4 seats, so could always take other people as well.

Saturn Sky, Boxster S, Miata with retractable hardtop, 370 Z, Jeep Wrangler, MR2, Viper, Prowler...

335i easily. I loved mine. with just a tune and e mix it feels so good. boxster will likely handle better in curves, 335i will be better for cruising and pressing the skinny pedal to the floor occasionally. The fuel issues arent bad at all, you're more than capable of replacing the injectors or even the pump.

If we just compare the two with no issues I would take the Porsche all day long.
Given their issues I still tend to lean towards the Porsche just because the flood was so long ago.
But ryan is right, I rode in one friends tuned bmw and it was pretty fun. Never rode in that Porsche, so I have no idea if it’s any better.

Other factors...
Parking on driveway (hard on soft top in sun/winter.)
To replace H3, Jeff would prefer AWD.
I prefer a COLOR! So many black, silver, white...

(but will compromise for the right car)
Nothing super small. No Miata, MR2. No Solora, no (bubble butt) Eclipse. No muscle cars: Camaro, Mustang.
I'm leaning, BMW, Mercedes, Audi, Porsche. I've always liked the Skye/Solstice, then Jeff shows me how annoying the soft top is.
10k is if we keep the H3. I'm thinking 20k+ if we can replace the H3.
Anyway, this is probably more of a fun idea if anything. My friend just makes me a little jelly riding around in her vert.

C5…..I know you said no muscle cars but come on. Price per power and handling? Plus jeff has one, you have one! This is an open and shut case!!

Having a vert is nice but you will probably use it less than you think. That is what we have realized after having had Beth's for close to 3 years now. It isn't nearly as fun at higher speeds as you think it will be after a while, it is either too hot or too cold or you are just going a short distance so why bother? Plus it eats up every bit of trunk space there is.
I actually take the roof panels off the Jeep far more than she lowers the top on hers.

No, that was never the plan. Sorry if I gave that impression.

Yeah I didn't get the impression you wanted a project car. Just a fun convertible car to drive, that probably needed some work, but not a shitbox.

A colorful history and needing minor maintenance is one thing. But something that needs a ton of work just to be presentable on day one is altogether different. Besides the trash paint job, this thing had a straight piped exhaust that sounded like shit, and the tires were showing cords.
This looks a lot classier.

G37 looks nice but I'm always skeptical of rebuilt titles

Vira talked to the guy. Supposedly it was just a bumper and fender. My car needs $3400 worth of work, and the damage was so minor I almost didn't see it on close inspection. So I could easily believe a minor fender bender would total out a 13 year old Infiniti.
