Lithium vehicle batteries

Lithium vehicle batteries
I see a lot of them for deep cycle but they say they are not intended for cold cranking or starting engines.
Are there any that are? Seems like that would be ideal for a vehicle i hardest use.

Re: Lithium vehicle batteries
McLarens use lithium batteries because they're so light. They also cost just over $3000 to replace.
Anti Gravity makes some slightly more affordable ones. But they're still far from cheap. This is what I'd get for my Corvette if I wanted one. (I don't)

I don't think they're really fit for real world daily use. They're more meant for high end toys that spend their downtime plugged into a battery tender.

Re: Lithium vehicle batteries
Yeah what Jeff said. Most of the lithium batteries are for off grid type storage or RV/houseboats. They offer much more usable storage. Their weight savings is more or less a nice benefit more so than a requirement.
Why are you looking for a lithium battery for starting a car?

Re: Lithium vehicle batteries
Would just like one for the vr4 since it doesn’t get used much. Something that last longer than standard batteries, something that will not self drain like regular batteries.Chris GTO TT wrote: ↑Fri May 19, 2023 2:45 pm Yeah what Jeff said. Re: Lithium vehicle batteries
Do you not have a trickle charger on it? That and a quality AGM battery would last a very long time.
Re: Lithium vehicle batteries
I have a trickle charger down there, but it alternates between mower/4 wheeler, and when I think of it vr4. It’s also a pain to hook up the vr4. So I often put it off.

Re: Lithium vehicle batteries
Just get the VR-4 it's own high quality trickle charger with the pigtail you can leave attached to the battery. It's way cheaper than any LiPo battery.

I could…..or I could overkill and do something pointless on a vehicle that fits those perimeters.Chris GTO TT wrote: ↑Fri May 19, 2023 4:11 pm Just get the VR-4 it's own high quality trickle charger with the pigtail you can leave attached to the battery. It's way cheaper than any LiPo battery.

Re: Lithium vehicle batteries
Quit being lazy, get another trickle charger, and an AGM battery and be done. And have a lot more money in your pocket.

Re: Lithium vehicle batteries
The battery in my white Corvette lasted 7 years. I kept it on a trickle charger when it sat longer than a week, and I'm pretty sure the original owner did the same. It was just a plain old GM factory installed lead acid Delco battery. Nothing special. It was just well cared for.
Get one of the little 2 prong hard wired connectors and that should make it easier to hook up. I had that setup on my Stealth. I was able to close the hood and just route the cable up out of the cowl.

Re: Lithium vehicle batteries
Not related directly, but I had to replace the battery in my Cobalt earlier this year. The date on it was 2012.
Re: Lithium vehicle batteries
That's pretty impressive.
