5yr old

So my oldest has a tool box and some stuff in it. Lately she has been asking to build something. Sadly I don’t have any ideas.

Suggestions?

When I was that age I was given a hammer, a box of old nails, and a pile of scrap wood. Told me to do whatever I wanted to do with it.

I had that. But my child is a bit more neat and wants to actually make something. I would prefer it to be nuts and bolts but we may have to build stuff like bird houses or Kleenex holders.

Just don't buy pre-made kit stuff. Work with them to build from scratch.

Does she have Lego's. My boys love those. Otherwise they have a Power wheels that they put up on blocks to "fake repair". I also take them outside to do real work on the cars too.

I was almost thinking to start with, just drilling and taping some metal and have her put a bolt with a washer and nut on it.

She does have legos, we do those, but she wanted to use her tool set. No power wheels but maybe we can do something with a model car.

We have large model cars with screws and power drills. Those are fun too.
