Lots of people in here have trucks to tow. A while ago I replaced all the rear stuff for the avalanche but soon I wanna do the front.

What brake pad do you use for towing? Does it matter since most trailers have brakes? Is it worth it to go with the next generation rotor and caliper as they are about 30% more brake pad area?

Doesnt really matter IMO. I like ceramics because they last longer and dont get dusty, but it your braking setup blows get more aggressive ones. As you mentioned your trailer already has brakes, so just make sure they are dialed in correctly and dont drive crazy.

Given the size of your brakes I'd probably lean towards something with more heat tolerance. I'm just running whatever came on my truck because they were basically full pad thickness as of the time I did the shocks.

As for trailer brakes, assuming they're electric make sure you set the gain high enough to get full lock up at 30-35mph on level ground and then back off one.

I just keep with OEM stuff. It's worked great for me and I tow a lot.... mostly stuff I shouldn't be

I know I can go with newer gen rotors and calipers, I think I can do all the way to 2020. I will prob try my wheel on the wife’s Tahoe and see if if all clears and by how much this weekend to give me an idea. I’m cool with factory pads but man some bigger brakes would be nice. I’ve stomped on the brakes before and it just…not feel like it was gonna stop.
