What’s the best and what’s the best bang for your buck?

Earthquake is your best bang for the buck. 1000ft/lbs of torque and it takes a beating. Got it from Harbor Freight believe it or not....

However, like I was saying in Vikings thread, they have their own line of batteries which you can’t use in other tools except theirs.

Honestly though, I wish I spent the extra for the Milwaukee one. The battery can be used in most of their other tools.

Right now Milwaukee is 1st and Dewalt is a close 2nd place. Either of those are excellent choices.

Does it need to be wireless?

I mean cordless.

Love my dewalt, Milwaukee is the same spec wise I believe. 1400lbs breakaway

I have the milwaukee m18 2767-22 and I love it although so far, I've only loosened wheel lugs. I picked up the m18 flashlight too, it's a great pairing. We'll have to see how well it fairs on something like drive axle nuts or crank pulleys.

I like the settings on it not sure what the dewalts have. A few static speeds then one that goes full bore til it's loose then slows down.

Still love my IR w7150 but I do feel it's gotten a bit weaker in the 8 years I've had it. When I first got it I could break loose a Honda crank bolt.

Staked nuts are still no problem for this thing. Rips them right off.

i know, its impressive when a cordless impact can do that imo

I have the original 20V Craftsman Impact (and cordless drill and flashlight). That thing has no issues breaking axle nuts, or the crank pulley on my Stealth free. I'm sure the newer Craftsman stuff is nowhere near as good, as the one I have is 10 years old now and from before they sold out.

More impressive over an air impact or a corded electric impact?

I guess in all three cases it's all about getting energy into the fastener you are trying to loosen. I'm not a physics major or anything but I imagine it's specifically about torque or the rotational force. You want a shit ton of rotational force in short time to break something free, and after it's not as big of a deal.

Not sure where each technology's limitation is in regard to "single moment" rotational force. Beyond that it's about convenience of weight, portability, and needing to "recharge."

Guarantee newer craftsman is an improvement. Battery technology alone and tool size are an improvement.

I have an air compressor so I just stick with my earthquake air tools from harbor freight. Ryobi doesn't make a good 1/2" 18v impact which is part of why I just use pneumatic.

I've been debating on getting a nice air compressor for a while now. Any recommendations? Mostly so I can run sir powered tools and quickly fill tires.

Agreed on those fronts. Just not sure how Craftsman's quality has done since Sears sold the brand.

If I have to get another one at some point (I can still get batteries for mine), I will most likely get a Milwaukee if it's cordless. Though hopefully by the time I need one, we'll have a new house with a shop (not planning on that for 10 years though lol) and I'll have an air compressor and can use pneumatic tools.

Been looking at the m18 1/2" impact myself. Already have the batteries. But not sure $200 is worth it for me right now. Would have been nice but haven't truly needed one yet.

Anymore the Harbor Freight stuff is basically the same as what you'd get from Lowes or Home Depot,and would be plenty good for most home use.
