Garage accessories

Post by DCIV »

We’ve shown pictures of our garages but let’s talk about accessories.

Work benches, lights, organization, ext.

I recently installed a collapsible shelf elsewhere in my house and was thinking of putting one in the upstairs garage. Maybe even in my other garage on the wall the car sits closest too and thus when I’m working over there I have a spot to put stuff.

I also need some more lights. Suggestions?

For lights I just put in some crazy high-output LED bulbs.

Looks like Amazon doesn't stock them anymore, but something like these:

Just bought these, basically the same as you got.

Really the only thing to watch for on those is the base size. Make sure it matches your socket, or get an adapter, or replace your socket with the matching size.

Only sockets my house has are at the bathroom sinks.

I have all led strips downstairs and recessed led upstairs.

I have to run a cord or anything else I need.

Yeah I made sure to get E26/27 bases, which is the standard size.

You don't have any light sockets in your garage? That's..... Unusual.

Nope. I have outlets in the ceiling to run led light strips that you can daisy chain off of.
I have 6 of these (individually not 6 pairs) https://www.costco.com/feit-electric-4' ... 62723.html

And 3 of these racks https://www.costco.com/saferacks-4-ft.- ... 06897.html
Got similar lights at Costco but with a remote. Had auto dim setting as well as motion detection. Work great.

Yeah mine are the older ones, but since all my outlets are switched I don't really need the newer features.

Yea, I still have my older ones like yours on the switch, but have 3 of these motion sensing ones plugged into the wall. Its nice to pull up into the house when its dark out and not have to rely on the garbage garage door opener lights to illuminate things. These just turn right on and right back off when you go inside.

Otherwise if im working in the garage I hit the light switch to have all 6 of them on.

The barrina leds from Amazon are the best output wise. I’ve used the corn ones before like you posted and they work really well, just look dumb. This is what I’m getting for the garage

Barrina LED Shop Light, 4FT 40W 5000LM 5000K, Daylight White, V Shape, Clear Cover, Hight Output, Linkable Shop Lights, T8 LED Tube Lights, LED Shop Lights for Garage 4 Foot with Plug (Pack of 10) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07Q49DNGS/re ... UTF8&psc=1

And I’ll probably do these in the storage room/gym

(Pack of 8) Barrina LED T5 Integrated Single Fixture, 4FT, 2200lm, 5000K, 20W, Utility Shop Light, Ceiling and Under Cabinet Light, with Built-in ON/Off Switch https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07PG3RLH7/re ... UTF8&psc=1

Yeah, those look nice and have good light output. I did get some LED strip lights like those to put up as well in the back garage, but haven't had a chance to get out there and put them up. My ceiling is like 18 feet high, so a bit tricky to get up there on a ladder. The corn lights were a quick and easy fix.

I don't have any pictures of it, but a good drill/impact and battery charging station. I build one out of spare plywood when I first moved in.

I have my battery chargers mounted on the wall but would love an actual spot to put the drills and what not.
