New GT500 with a couple basic mods (pulley, headers, exhaust tune) or new GT auto with a shitload of mods.
After it's all said and done the base GT would probably be about 30k cheaper and faster in a straight line.

Depends on long term goals. If keeping it long term, the GT. If not and will resell in a few years, the GT500

Depends on what your goal is, fast in a straight line, or fast in a straight line, and around a track. If you want both, GT500.

That's the thing. The new 500 is a beast on the track. I'm torn if it were my decision. I do like the build though so for me it would probably be GT.

The other thing in my opinion is, the bigger the build, the more parts there are, and the more there is to go wrong. At least with the GT500 and the couple parts it's not a huge build.

If I'm spending my own money I'd get the GT PP2 with a few minor mods. If I'm spending someone else's money then GT500.

Though it sounds like since he wants automatic, he really wants to drag race, is that right?

As much as I am a GM guy I'd take a mustang over a camaro nowadays. 02 and older, camaro. 2011 and newer, mustang.

Yes if it happens it'll probably be a mostly straight line car. As much as I like the 500 personally it'll probably go to the base with mods.

Yeah if its going to be mostly straight line, I would go with the base as well. Jury's out on how much the DCT can handle, and there are easier transmission swaps (if it ever gets to that point) for the Coyote.

My reasoning also. The 10a also been out longer so they've had more time to get the tuning down. Afaik tuning for the dct is still a grey area.
