Cleaning up hoarded parts

I want to cut down on the parts I have and don’t really need.

What rule do I put in place to decide if that part gets kept, sold, trashed?

Like, just sitting here I am looking at starters, alternators (regular and HO), timing covers, crank pulleys, oil coolers and the list goes on and on.

But each one I can tell you why I have it. Starters so I don’t have to go buy a new one, timing covers because I have ruined some, alternators because I wanted a HO one but then didn’t know if I need to upgrade anything, regular because I didn’t know, oil cooler because it was original and it’s not a spun bearing Incase I ever do....

So help me out. I need a set of standards or rules when I go through this stuff.

Parts you can't readily get anymore - keep. Parts that are shared with tons of other vehicles and easily available - toss.

Okay. Organized all my fluids, cleaned off 3 shelves, then filled them back up, but got a trash can of junk out. Still got a long way to go but it’s getting better.

It’s not easy. It’s easier if you can list it on FB marketplace and someone bites on it. Then it doesn’t hurt as bad. Lol
