White Rooster Productions

Hey guys! So this is what I’ve been working on the last month or so. A lot of this was inspired by Coop from his drone thread.

Note: this has nothing to do with chickens!

Earlier this week (or last week) I was laid off from my "essential" job. Part of me is worried about being able to meet my future goals, another part is just happy I can now safely quarantine and practice social distancing.

I sit here and feel gratitude and appreciation for all I have and all I've built. When you're grateful, fear disappears and abundance appears. To quote Tony Robbins, "Live every day with an attitude of gratitude."

Check it out and tell me what you guys think!

Oh fuck yeah!!!

What drone you using? Also is this about a car channel? Modifying cars? Others cars? Yours?

I think it’s a great start, just don’t know exactly which direction it’s going.

Glad I could help in some way with my crazy antics.

Liked the video, and your mobile camera shots are excellent. I like how you can't really tell it is a drone at first, and then it rises to change the angle.

Your voice sounds thinner than I'd like to hear - it sinks a bit much into the background. I'd personally prefer it to stand out. Did you filter it to make it sound that way, or did your mic do that?

Need to get a better mic. Picked up some cheap one from amazon and it flat out sucks.

I've had a Yeti Blue for a long time, and it has been my go-to mic for things like presenting on big webinars, etc. They are pricey at around $130, but you'll never need another mic again.

You’re getting some nice shots. Which drone are you using? Your voice is deeper than I remember.

Interesting premise. I'm anxious to see what you've got coming up.

As far as constructive criticism, I agree with what everyone else said. Fix the mic issue. You already talk a lot better than half the YouTubers I watch. Don't let cheap audio gear get in the way of that.

I'd also recommend not claiming someone else's quotes as your own. That's just going to make people mad.

Serious question. Is this just a side thing to kill some time, or you you have ambitions of turning this into something that makes money? Spend some time reading about YouTube burn out. The absolute grind some of these people go through just to stay afloat. It looks like fun and games on the surface, but it's not an easy way to make money.

Whatever happens, good luck. I'll be among the first to sign up for your Patreon

Thanks Jeff!

Right now it’s filling time from being laid off from my job (second time in a year). It’d be great to do this full time but like you said, it’s a lot more time and work than people realize and I’m completely alone. My girl wants little to nothing to do with it and my money is very limited now. Although I did get some cinematography advice from a couple people (who will be credited in the next film) and struck a deal with a new group called Youth83 for some music!

Next video is just doing some basics to the truck. After that.... I’ve got some plans but nothing is working out. The AutoX events I was going to participate in were cancelled and I am holding off on the car builds till after the garage is finished.

The garage is priority at the moment. Years of planning finally about to get somewhere! Although this next film was done completely outdoors and turned out beautifully!!

Flyin Miata finally got back to me about sponsoring the ND V8 build but it’ll be months before anything happens with that.

Exomotive still doesn’t have the ExoVette platform finalized (and it doesn’t seem Kevin is interested in sponsoring me anyway yet).

Texas Speed doesn’t respond to my messages about engines for the cars but I can’t blame them since I’m so new to this and don’t have any sort of reputation in the Ls community.

It would be great if this became monetized but for now it’s just something fun and something to challenge my creativity. The social media platform has evolved. Just like message boards have always been the place to document my work, YouTube is now the place to do that.

I thought about doing a tech video back when the C7 magride upgrade was a little more active. Mainly just to see if I could make something of decent quality. I never got around to it :p

Sounds like you need a lavaliere (pin on) mic? If you're going to be working on stuff and talking at the same time.

Nothing. She just wants nothing to do with the channel.

Wish you lived closer. Been saying for years we’d be a great pair for a car based TV show.

I can barely string together a coherent sentence in casual conversation.

It took me close to an hour to get a decent take when I did my HMI upgrade video.

Maybe in the meantime you can do some cheap but crazy stuff. Kinda pick up where this guy left off.

That’s the reality of show business. I’m not any better. You’ll see it in the next video. Lots and lots of practice and I still don’t seem comfortable talking to a camera. Lots of “ums” and some pauses.... Hell the lines from the intro video were done (no joke) 15 times before finally get a take I liked.

We’ll see how much more talking I do. It seems the cinematography is going to be the main draw to my vids. Wait till you see how beautiful just the intro is for this vid! Just finished editing and need to reshoot one silly little 2 second scene but it’s ready.

Also ordered the parts for the truck for the next video. Filming will start on that soon. Girl wants me to take a break and do shit around the house instead of taking pictures of our “trashy property”.

I look forward to the vids Greg. My cousin and I have joked about setting up a camera in the garage just to record our follies and post them to YouTube. We could probably get people interested just from the hilarity.

Probably a really good time to put your efforts into a channel if you are currently employed. I think a lot of people are using YouTube to help pass the time. I know I am.

Yeah exactly. Everyone is home watching TV. Now is the time to give them content to watch.

Better be an episode of “why did the chicken cross the road”. Otherwise I’m going to feel let down.
