What's going on guys? So a couple months ago Adam (Jesters) talked me into dusting off the cob webs from my PC, booting it up and finishing what I started 10 years ago. Believe it or not, all the tables you see in Chrome V2 are only about 20% of the whole ROM. Yes that's it. There's HUNDREDs of tables I never figured out.

The work I did obviously gave us enough to make the car run great but it left you limited to how you could build your car. Nearly everyone builds their cars with stock cams, TD04 turbos and run on pump gas so it worked perfect for most of the community, but those looking beyond that would just go stand alone....

There's so many more features in the ROM I figured out but never shared as well as added code from other Mitsubishi ROMs to increase usability but it seemed like there was little demand so I walked away from it.

Coming back after so long, it seems like a fresh brain has helped me figure a lot of things out. This thread is just meant for me to share notes so I can keep track of this all. Eventually I'll use it to make the Chrome V3 manual.

It seems all the disassembly forums have gone silent or offline too... Maybe I'm too late with this info but eff it. Here we go!

Excited for this! I've got some large TD05's ive been holding onto, so this might make me get back on track with that project.

Also, little off topic, but is there an SL rom/xml running around? Supposedly it calculates much differently than the Turbo (Chrome) Rom. I ask because the 3.8 MIVEC Mighty Max is NA and id like to make sure im running it properly.

I know I have an SL ROM. Greg will have to let you know if he made an XML for it. The one I have is super basic, and it definitely doesn't have any of his Chrome stuff.

Wouldn't it make more sense to start off with a 3.5L Montero ROM though?

Ill take either fully disassembled but I think the SL is probably closer as its already a 10+:1 motor, performance minded maps, setup for knock sensor, etc.

My car is running (and has been for about 3 years) I can help test as well.

I still seem to run rich at start up even though I’ve turn the enrichment table pretty much off. Anything in the code about that?

I did make a Chrome SL ROM actually but that might not be the way to go for your setup Steve. Now that I've disassembled a few of these ROMs I've come to see a lot of the recycled code which is universal to these ECUs but different subs were simply enabled/disabled depending on the setup.

The idea is to have us an all-in-one universal ROM which can be used in any platform. My goal is to show all these tables, add any missing code and give the user instructions on what exactly they need to edit depending on the setup. I've learned so much since my initial release of Chrome V2 which I plan to share in this thread.

You guys who want to beta test... I gave out a lot of beta ROMs with little to no feedback and a lot of wrong info shared back to me. That's how the V2 ROM was initially released with a backwards Active Exhaust setup...

This challenge of an all-in-one ROM is extremely difficult for me now that I don't have a car to test things out on. Adam/Jesters was really the only guy who I've been able to depend on to test something seemingly unimportant to the general populous. Like how the EGR or varible intake works... He also has the knowledge of how to tune his car and give me feedback to help me figure out the issues rather than just reporting back "It doesn't work".

If you are going to help me beta test, be prepared for long phone calls at random times during the day/week. I'm about to become unemployed so my schedule is wide open.

I'm game. Been running on E85 even with the V2 since before it was released. I still think I have the old version, cause my active exhaust is backwards still I believe. Everything else works for me though. I won't be able to test EGR or emissions stuff (unless it's just to make sure no CEL comes on).

So you are trying to make your own AEM/Megasquirt ECU essentially?

For the SL style setup, will I just enable certain subs, so that the code reads differently for NA vs running a turbo setup? Again, im fine with playing with the SL in the meantime, but I do like your universal ROM approach for the long term.

I can help beta test if you want an extra hand. I am rusty since I do not play with it nearly as much. Currently the Stealths are parked and not on insurance, so i might be limited on my help for now, but ill do what i can.

I might be able to help with the EGR and emissions stuff. The 96 TT is all stock still. Will give me an excuse to build another conversion harness.

Honestly, with a lot of these features you're going to need a Jesters ECU. A stock VR4 ECU won't have the motor controls for the VICS inputs/outputs for example. There are other features too besides this (like MIVEC) which only his ECUs will support as they'll have all the components from all the ECUs. Plus.... it just plugs right in and works.... no need for a harness.

Super excited to see this Greg. I'm still a ways away from it but ill be TT swapping eventually and running TD05s. Always planned on doing chrome and this makes it even better.

I thought MIVEC could be controlled through the EGR circuit? I've currently got it set up on a window switch for now that works fine, but i would eventually like to swap it back over. Arent Jesters like $850 before tax and shipping... from 3SX?

I dont mind the harness since i already have all the parts to make it. Just not trying to spend a lot of $$ right now especially since in have a couple ECU's lying around.

EGR won’t get repurposed. A universal ROM needs to work in a stock car and a modified one.

If there was true flex fuel support, I'd probably still be running Chrome. That seems like a lot to ask for though, on the original hardware.

It’s not. I went thru 2 junk yard sensors without luck and read that they are prone to failure so I gave up. I repurposed the Octane code to function as the “flex” interpolation. Worked great if the sensor worked,...

Instead I’m working on wideband closed loop feedback which will work just as well. The stock code appears to be able to handle it but I’m still combing every subroutine just to make sure. Adam confirmed the stock circuitry on the board can easily handle the dual 5V inputs.

So draw through or blow through just can’t happen though? Have you talked to the DSM link people? They have that option.

I pretty much had the GM slot-type MAF figured out and just needed to build a conversion circuit for it. The hard part would be figuring out what needs to get put in the ECU calibration tables.
