I'm trying to decide if it would be worth it to revive my old VR4. It has been sitting in storage for 9 years without being moved or even started. Anyone here have any idea what all that would involve or if it would even be worth it? Seems like it could end up being as much as just replacing it altogether.

Mine has e85 in it

I’ve purchased vehicles that have sat longer than that. Battery is likely trash. Fuel is probably pretty bad but it will likely run still. Tires might be bad too. Change the oil and dump the fuel and she should about as well as you left it.

Mine sat for a long long time. It did just fine.

Drain the fuel. At least the 3s has a drain plug on the tank. Change the oil. Install a new battery. Do a once-over of electrical.

Try to fire it at this point.

Once you have it running I'd do all the regular maintenance (accessory belts, etc) and do the 60k stuff since age is just as much a factor as mileage.

I didn’t drain any fuel, I did change oil and cycle the engine over some.

It had some issues that needed attention when parked so I'm at least anticipating some work anyway. Heavy smoking and the all too common 3rd gear grind being a couple. Some other smaller issues too. A 1st gen in sandstone was listed on Bring A Trailer today and it is so beautiful, made me want to get mine back up and running.

I happened upon a 92 with 46k miles on it on Craigslist today... Kinda making me think, so I know the feels...

Why would you be looking at such an old minivan? You should buy a new one for the latest safety features.
