Is It My Turn Now?

As you know I have a 2015 Focus ST. Currently it has right at 58,000 miles on it. I owe right at $11k on it, and the trade value is anywhere from 13.5-16k depending if you look at NADA or Kelly Blue Book. While I really like my car, I have always wanted the RS.
There are some NEW 2017 RS's out there still, that have deep discounts on them right now (see link). I'm seriously considering picking the one in the link up, if I can get 14.5-15k for my ST. My payment won't go up that much per month either (maybe $70-100/month), and I'd have my RS. The biggest issue is it has summer only tires on it, so I'd have to drop $800-$900 right away on some all seasons (would run the summer tires in the summer).
The only reasons I am seriously considering it, is they are out of production now, so hopefully they do not depreciate in value that much. Also, I got a promotion, along with a nice 8% raise at the beginning of the year, in addition to paying off my student loans. So if there was a time to get one, now is it I think. I am also 95% confident that if I got the RS, that would remain my daily driver until such time as the car is no longer driveable. I could see myself keeping it for 10-15 years, putting 12,000ish miles a year on it without issue.

That thing has 350 whores powaz? Wow that would be a great car. Get it, but lets be honest. Very few people keep a car for 10 years nowadays.

Yeah 350hp/350tq and AWD. I agree with the car 10 years part. I had full intentions of keeping my ST that long, until I discovered there were still new 2017 RS's out there with deep discounts.
Also I have had my Stealth for 14 years now, so I do have some history of keeping cars more than 10 years
I also don't seen anything coming in the future that would compare to the RS except maybe an STi or Civic Type R, but I don't want a Subaru, and the Type R is FWD. With the switch to SUVs, I don't see any hot hatches coming around in the near futures.

If you can get the numbers you want, then do it. You've been talking about this for something like 2 years. I think you're right. There isn't going to be a better time, and I don't foresee very many more cars like this being made, at least in the US.

Hows the cockpit? Its looks small. Can you seat people in the back comfortably while having plenty of space up front?

I was in the back of Michigan Steve's ST a few times. I wouldn't want to go on a cross country trip in the back of one, but it was pretty decent for local trips.

It's identical to the Focus ST I have now. Plenty of room up front, backseat is tight, but we have the wife's Explorer Sport for long trips. Car seat also fits fine in the back seat of the Focus.

Glad to hear a seat fits back there. These are quite the bargain for that HP to weight ratio. Whats stock for 1/4 mile? How much can you crank them up on stock internals?

For what it's worth I loved the ST, and I was pretty close to getting a ST3 when they first came out. When I heard about the RS, I was pretty thrilled too.
It's the looks of the car that gets me, they overdo it- but the only thing that's stopped me from leasing/buying a Focus is exactly what you stated... the move to SUVs and their eventual suping up of them.
So if it twernt for the Edge, I would most likely be rocking a Focus ST for many years- it's a nice affordable quick car.

Yeah love the idea of the car but it is a bit too boy racer'ish for me. I tend to like the understated and more of a sleeper look.

Yup, why I loved the Edge Sport/STs- more refined of a look imo.

I still wish we could have gotten this one.
If the Gen 3 RS had looked like this, I'd have had a much harder time turning it down.

I do like that concept a lot, but I still like how the RS turned out as well. Going to call the dealer on the way home tonight
