The Half Monti

Post by ChargerX3 »

Its just a forgotten about 1988 Montero V6 with only 2 doors. Anyways I will be headed over to check this puppy out this evening. I finally got a picture this afternoon and Im feeling quite hopeful.

Has a blown head gasket and missing windshield wipers. Used to be a NorCal car. Dont have much more info than that.

I hope its an easy repair, so I can get it on the road quick. Otherwise I will probably just drop in my 01' Monti 3.5 motor.

Some dings on the hood but looks pretty good considering how long it has been sitting.

I only see one ding in the hood. The others appear to be dust spots from crap lying on top of it. What surprises me is how straight that front bumper is. Every one ive seen is dented up like the rest of the truck. Truthfully, this appears to be one of the best looking 2 door Montero's I have seen in a long time. Most are trashed and falling apart.

Crossing my fingers on this one. Will know more tonight.

Looks like a decent starting point. The top of the windshield looks iffy

You had your shot too, but went Mr. Cool with your H1. :ick:

Still plenty out there.

I think so too. Are you referring to the glass, or the sheet-metal just above it?

Volvo 240 wipers!
I think about all the things we could have done, all the miracles we could have achieved, if we were all just a little bit better than it turns out we are.

I cut and welded a set of arms for mine so I could have standard j hooks.

Actually came out very nice.

Checked it out tonight. Looked pretty good. Nothing extra like lsd or bouncy seats. It’s a 5 speed manual which supposedly is more rare. Only dent is on the hood and roof. Both small. Interior is decent for its age too.

Couple drawbacks though. Nearly 300k miles. Small leaks from steering box and trans.

You’ve already done the trucks. Do a raider. Then sell it to me.

I can see this conversation with my wife going great... "my daily driver is being totaled, so I'm replacing it with a broken old Mitsubishi."

It would fit in the garage with the Miata with loads of space to spare :) . Plus you could do your own engine swap the way you like.
