I know it is not a vette like everyone else seems to have, but at least it is a GM, right? :d err:

Anyway...

2013 Volt Premium in Summit White

With:
Enhanced Safety Packages 1 & 2
Back Up Camera
Navigation
Bose System
Leather
etc.
Pretty much all the bells and whistles.

Been averaging just over 42 miles per charge and have used less than a gallon of gas total so far.

I still can't get over how quiet it is and I am still getting used to the single speed tranny.

Only thing I want to do is eventually tint the windows.

These are not the greatest pics as it is in the garage and the lighting is not the greatest.

Nice! We love our 2017 so far. Takes a little getting used to no shifting and no noise. Our Prius didn't have any shifting, but it seemed like the engine was always working hard to get anywhere. The Volt just feels "effortless".

2089 miles total, 1912 on electric. Lifetime MPG: 250+ (as high as it will record).

You can get good charging/usage/maintenance stats from OnStar and my.chevrolet.com.

The only thing I'd complain about is that the back seats are pretty cramped for legroom. And you can't order one with HomeLink, though it is easy enough to hack one in anyways.

We actually looked at a 2016 with that 20% off they were doing but couldn't justify spending the extra price. Picked this one up, a CPO with/ 4/48 Platinum Warranty, for over $10k less than a new one at the 20% off.

I have only had it for 1 week tomorrow so not sure how the actual mileage will play out with time, but looking at the previous owner (lease) they averaged over 70 mpg with 33k miles on it.

I have put on about 200 miles since we got it and used less than 1 gallon of gas so far, so not complaining.

Pretty much.

But I like that the center console come outs in the back and the seats fold flat. Combine that with the hatchback it is quite roomy for stuff and the dogs. Also, it is just me and the wife, so no need to put anyone back there yet. Once we have kids they will be small enough for a few years that leg room won't be an issue either. Luckily front leg room is great so we can move the seats forward if need be.

Sounds like a great price on that one. The only drawback is that you don't get the big $7500 tax credit on a pre-owned.

That was the one thing we kept going back and forth on. As nice as that would have been come tax season we still pay less in the long run with this one.

250mpg? I'm lucky if I get 2.5mpg :p

Did you guys notice any difference in your electric bill? Or are you charging it elsewhere?

I haven't had it long enough yet to see the difference.

It is about $0.80 to charge it from empty to full. My wife drives it to work every day, and her building has 10 free charge ports at the entrance to her new building (it is some sort of fancy green-rated building). She just plugs it in, scans her ChargePoint card, and it charges at 240v 15 amps, so it can do a full charge in about 3 hours or so while she's at work. I'd say we probably charge it about 50% of a charge every night, so it is costing us about $0.40 a day, around $12.00 a month.

The 2016+ Volt comes with a charger that is 240v capable, even though it has a 120v plug on it. I installed a 240v 50 amp receptacle in the garage and made a converter cord from the NEMA-50 to 120v plug with the hot and neutral wires now both hot from opposite phases. Charges at 240v and 12 amps. A little short of the 15 amps that a full EVSE can do, but it still gets the job done in about 3.5 to 4 hours, and I didn't have to buy a new EVSE to do it.

However, if you are looking for an EVSE charger a friend of mine in Las Vegas makes them for cheaper than you can get most anywhere and with more features:

It was the cheapest one for over 300 miles at the time as a CPO one. Talked them down to $16980 from $17980. Most are listed for around $20k+ and seem to go for between $18-19k out here. Could probably find one cheaper not CPO, but I like the peace of mind that comes with buying CPO.

CPOs are a good buy since they extend out the factory warranty.

Nice purchase!

Because I cant imagine it being remotely fun.

You don't buy one of these to be fun.

You buy these for the MPG and safety and keep something else to be fun.

Once I sell the LJ I will be tempted to start really modding the XJ. Thinking Dana 60s, 37s, 6" lift, etc. Do that over a couple of years.

Exactly - you buy a car like this to use as your daily commuter car so that you aren't putting a crapload of miles on your nice/collector car. For those of us in winter climates, you also need something for the winter driving that isn't as nice...

It actually is decent to drive - the no engine noise/vibration, no shifting - just smooth and quiet is really nice. Acceleration is pretty brisk, and very torquey from a stop.

I guess if I changed cars a lot then I might feel differently, but I've had the Spyder since 1999 (65,000 miles on it), the Avalanche since 2010 (50,000 miles on it), Stingray is still pretty new (4500 miles) and plan on having it a long time... So the Volt is a way to keep lots of miles off the more fun vehicles, same as our Prius did.

Not that the Avalanche is "fun", but we need a truck once in a while and I want that one to stay nice for a long time since they aren't making them any longer.

I have had the XJ since 2007, and now I am just starting to modify it to be fun.
