New VW Beetles
Any good in the snow or what? My wife's step-mother is getting into some money (close to $1 million) and she wants to buy my wife a VW beetle. We would rather have a Subaru, but if we can't get her to changer her mind, we want to know what we can about the beetle.

she's getting a million dollares and she wants a beetle ahhhhhhhh
Re: New VW Beetles
Tell her you want to spend the money and get 2 beetles
1 a few years old, not turbo for less, something for wife to drive.
and 1 oldschool aircooled beetle you build up with a wicked motor and suspension for baja racing
Talk to Mikes95RT on 3si
Aren't they just basically Jetta's with a different body. Good car mechanically, for a DD
Subaru is a mighty fine choice though.
My parents have an 02 Outback Wagon LL Bean edition, mighty nice
the newer Legacy 2.5 GT's are awesome
My list of older Subaru experience goes on and on

I've heard great things about the diesel beetles. A girl I go to school with just bought one and she loves it. I'd check out consumer reports and see how it ranked.

I don't know about in the snow, but i have driven a couple of different beetles.
The non turbos are freakishly slow. But the turbo models are fun. They are very roomy and neat looking cars.
