Talk to me about 6G74's...
And whether or not they are in 2002 Montero's...
I'm looking at a hot Montero that I'm planning to buy tomorrow. Good deal, I got approved for the loan. And I really need a new vehicle. The old Ford is getting tired..
Is the 6G74 basically the same ol story as the 6G72?

6G74 = 6G72 + .5L
Most of the internals are the same, or at least made the same but bigger.
Here's a site that lists most of the differences between the two:

And if you ever have a fuck-ton of cash laying around, you could hook yourself up with one of Ray's 3.5L strokers.

Hmm. I see. So do you guys know if an 02 Montero has the SOHC or DOHC motor? I didn't get a chance to look under the hood yet, or else I could probably answer a lot of my own questions.
Where can I find technical data on this stuff?

A 3.5L stroker kit for a 3.5L engine?
You mean his 4.5L stroker kit?

I mean his stroker kit for 3.5L motors, which ups the displacement to 4.5L.
Does anyone have anything else to add?
Sure...........
1. The ONLY dohc 6g74 motors were in 94-96 monteros under the 'sr' badge
3. Although i didnt click the link above, im pretty sure it relates to 6g74's listed in #1 above (im assuming its the link to convert a 3s to 6g74)
4. That being said, the only monteros worth tt'ing are 94-96 sr's (if thats what you had in mind like i do)
