99 VR-4 wing on a Stealth? ::screams::

Post by oxrageous »

I just saw this on 3si. Perhaps I'm alone, but I don't think this could look worse. No offense to the owner personally. Well, maybe a little offense.

I always thought the 99 wing went rather nicely with the Stealth Tail lights... but then again you like vettes and I dont... *opens can of worms* :hi:

I'm of mixed feelings about it. That one looks ok, but it's mostly because of the color. Take a bright red one for example, and I think it'd look pretty bad.

Color looks great, wing doesn't fit well with the lines of the Stealth though.

Good to have you here, Chris. You and I have always gotten along extremely well. Welcome! ;)

Out of curiousity (and taking the "they are too common" defense out of the argument), why don't you like vettes?

Personally the only wing that looks good to me on a stealth is the 96 Stealth TT spoiler

Over all feel and quality of the car has been lacking... though the new Leather package in the C6 has caught my eye. I really dont think i could see myself in a C5 unless i were always taking it to the track (road course). That being said if someone offered me a C5 for free I would take it. As for buying a vette it would be 90-94 ZR-1 (yes i know the hassle of maintenance) or C6 with the nifty leather package and i cant afford either so its kind of a moot point.

In that last Viper vs. Vette thread I thought it was pretty funny how stupid both fan boies were being.

That would be Cbehnken's car, no? I'm not opposed to the wing on the stealth. From the back, I think it looks like it belongs with the stealth tail lights more than any other spoiler.

Considering brand new prices for 1997 through 2008 (since the used market opens up too many variables) what else can you buy at a Corvette price point that offers equivalent performance and the refinement you're after?

Oh i freely admit that new, used or stolen the vette offers the best performance per dollar. Since a car spends most of its life being driven on the streets i like a nice mix of performance and refinement (even if that means i give up performance for the refinement)

Its part of the reason I'm now considering a TSX over a Legacy 2.5GT.

I really don't like the 99 VR-4 wing period. It's not horrible but I wouldn't ever put one on a 3/S of mine.

TSX is a nice car. I prefer the styling of the Legacy GT though. A friend of mine was looking into buying one, and said there's actually a few good mod packages out there. Basically repackaged STI kits.

What's the TSX got int it? K-series?

Other than the "cool" factor of the engine, the ZR-1 has just as lousy of feel and quality of all the other C4's. The C5 is such a step up from a C4 it's ridiculous. While the C5 has some quality issues, the C4 is a rolling quality issue.

The ZR-1 really has very little performance advantage over a base C5. The C5 Z06 blows the ZR-1 away.

I have 0-60 times of the ZR-1 at 4.4 seconds and the 1/4 mile at 12.9 @ 111.

Agreed but the LT-5 sounds so damned awesome screaming at redline :D [quote=""Gatecrasher""]TSX is a nice car. I prefer the styling of the Legacy GT though. A friend of mine was looking into buying one, and said there's actually a few good mod packages out there. Basically repackaged STI kits.

Im pretty sure its the KA24. Its got decent pull and its nice and smooth to redline.

Thats basically where I'm at. I preffer the interior and the chassis of the TSX and i preffer the outside of the Legacy and the power the engine makes. The Shifter of any honda is like a hot kinfe through butter.

After reading All Corvettes are Red (thanks again Ox!) I can't imagine why anyone would chose a C4 over a C5 unless price was the biggest consideration. Even GM had long list of things they didn't like about it and that was in the early 90s.

All but the first years ZR1 will keep up (slightly behind) with a Z06 from a stop and will pull away on the highway. The LT5 makes more HP, similar torque, and the car is geared to use it all up to very high speeds unlike the Z06 which is geared to have more of a useable powerband below 120MPH.

Other than that, the ZR1 is, like said...one big quality issue

TSX doesn't use the KA24...that's a Nissan motor. It's whatever the 2L 200HP motor Honda used in a previous civic. The TSX was okay, but it drove like a civic, wasn't that great on the inside, and had the turning radius of a sinking ship. I'd step up to a year older TL or Lexus ES before buying a TSX, I was really unimpressed on multiple test drives and ended up with a MBZ C-class for the same price.

I also show the ZR-1 is 300 pounds heavier than the Z06.

That's what bothering with DOHC technology does to a motor

ZR1 is a highway hauler

EDIT: K24 is too close to Nissan designation...stupid Honda :p

HAHA woops i knew that didnt sound right for the motor. I thought the TSX got the 2.4L not the 2.0

as for the TL i test drove one and was highly disappointed (sorry Macky) it felt bigger then my explorer on the inside, and had poor rear visibility. The TSX on the other hand felt much more nimble (more so then the Civic Si Sedan i drove too, the TSX also had nicer ride quality than the Si)
