Horn Trouble...lol

Post by JP3000GTSL »

ok so a week ago today, im going to a fire call. beeping. blah blah. one of horn buttons was done to begin with so i taped it up, i was using the right one which i had jerry rigged a while ago...lol..

anyway get to the firehouse, go on the truck, come back and my horn is constantly on. it was pretty funny to be honest.

popped the hood, pulled the relay for the time being. i get home, try to fix it, and the other button is finished. so i order 2 new ones, got them today and installed them. i put the relay back in..and no sound....then 3 seconds later HERE WE GO. the damn thing keeps sounding and wont go off. i checked the wires and the new buttons 3 times, no shorts or touching that i can see.

very annoying...stupid little things like these , . but im sure someone can help me figure it out

anyone got any ideas? this is very annoying. and i need my horn in NJ

On the Internet they say, "You never get this! You never get this!" But then one day they all met in Cali and they get this.

Well the horn wouldnt go off if it wasnt getting power so you have a short somewhere. Horns are one lead and thats just the positive side so you definitely have a short in the wire or button. I would take a long lead of wire and hook it to the horn and the button... rule out the button and everything back. If the horn works functionally then its somewhere between the horn and the button that you have a short and its picking up + voltage.
