"Flushing" turbos

Post by Twin-Turbo »

Hey all, as some of you know, I spun a bearing, so I bought a new engine and such. I have new oil cooler/lines, engine came with oil filter housing, I have new turbo oil feed/return lines, so basically I have a new oiling system. I was wondering how to flush the turbo's middle housing which the oil lines hook up to. I don't want any bearing material to come re-ruin my shit. If this is not possible I will just hook it up and not worry, but is there a way to flush out the inside of the turbo. I know all that is in there is a journal bearing that the shaft spins on. Maybe there isn't enough oil stuck in there to be worth it?

I highly doubt much of anything is going to get trapped in your turbo. You can try spraying some wd40 or something inside the turbo to try to wash it out.

Agreed, im sure the screen and filter prevented anything from getting in there

I thought so. The oiling system confused me so I didn't know if the turbos got oil before the filter or after. Makes sense that it would get it after because I am sure there would be about 2309583098682309-8657 more turbo failures.

It *is* a good idea to flush out the oil cooler, though, right? Quite possibly getting a spun bearing car to put my 3.1 in.
