Interior cleaning

My God this is tedious. Got the easy part done (rear seats out and cleaned), have the front seats sitting next to me in a kittah-proof room (leather + claws = bad), and my carpet is sitting on the driveway right now. I swear, I will NEVER let my car get this dirty again. Way too much work to get it back up to par.
That is all...

Wow, I've never gone that anal, though my car never seems to get that bad.

I had neglected things for quite some time, and I'll admit it. From greasy parts leaving their mark in the back seat, it was really, really rough. This was about the only way I could think of to really knock it out. All in all, I've spent maybe 3-4 hours total with disassembly and cleaning. I'm currently waiting for the carpet to finish drying for reassembly.
You should have seen the looks I was getting at the quarter car wash as I was blasting away on the carpet, but the end result is very nice. I haven't seen my carpet this clean in years. It's still not perfect by any stretch of the imagination, but looks good for a car with 162k miles on it.
The seats I fear will never look pristine again, but what is left will look alright until I can get new leather to cover them or new seats altogether.

I usually pull the seats when I buy a new car..it just makes it that much easier to clean throughly.

I haven't bought enough cars to get into any kind of routine. 3 Conquests (2 strictly for parts), a 1G DSM, the SL, and the Focus. This is the first time I've really gone this far with cleaning on an older vehicle. So far, the results look promising. Just got done putting the carpet and front seats back in, and will finish tidying up tomorrow.

Pulling the seats in these cars is CAKE. 2 bolts and 2 nuts for the front seats and 2 latches for the rear.

Old thread, but Im with you. It was tedious and annoying (especially doing it in the driveway on a 100 degree day), but it was so worth it.

I ended up having to replace my carpet it was so dirty. It looked like someone was murdered in my passenger seat. Completely worth it to have a clean interior though.
