Arent you the one that had gas spewing out of the tank when you went to fill it up?

Won't it only pressurize if you block off the line that runs from the tank to the cannister?

edit: I have the threads that Struggly made doing a vac reduction bookmarked on my home machine, he talks briefly about removing the cannister. I'll post them when I get home if they are relevent.

Theres still a check valve the pressure has to overcome. Regardless, even if your car is stock, you should always get a whooshing noise when you open the cap with little fuel in the tank.


I have a feeling the dogg has some sort of leak. Hows the gas mileage dogg?

BTW, how do you determine gas mileage on boost vs no boost? That would get scary using a full tank without ever going into vacuum, and equally boring driving a full tank at 1/8 throttle

It appears there are only 3 lines going from the tank to the engine bay. One would be supply, one return, and one for vac. cannister.

Yeah, not the best diagram for sure.

The fuel pump is CONSTANTLY running. On a stock TT, there's the resister with lowers the voltage and doesn't make it run as hard, but that's bypassed when a rewire is done.

When I remove the charcoal canister, I never cap the line. I disconnect it at the fuel tank and leave it to vent there.

...and for christs sake, fix the damn leak before you drive the car anywhere.

Aside from the rush of escaping fuel fumes when unscrewing the gas cap, what is the advantage of letting the tank vent? I have been using capped lines on two cars for a while, and haven't seen any ill effects. No exploding gas tanks yet. (Fingers crossed. )

Where is the check valve located? You're not talking about the cheap plastic valve that sits just behind the radiator fan, are you? That thing is junk. Is there an additional valve on the tank?
