If you try to do the fast key there is a box under the console that is part of the control for it. I only know that because I was looking up installing a short throw and the guy pointed out that unhooking that would wipe the programming and it would have to go to the dealer.

Speaking of...I want to see Jeff take that thing in when it's done and tell them he needs to have a couple keys programmed

I dont see why you would go through all that trouble when there are plenty of aftermarket systems for keyless.

Because itÂ’s stock and cool, and a little bit of a challenge.

I mean i could see it if there was some benefit to the stock system over an aftermarket. There are a lot of components you need for it though, wiring and the sensors in the a and c pillars, buttons and sensors on the door handles, etc.

I guess the integrated door handles and sensors could be a bonus. I dont think the aftermarket systems have that.

I came to my senses and wrote off the keyless thing. That's just going too far. However, I might try to get the Eclipse remote door locks working. I think I can wire up the Mighty Max door switches, solenoids and motors to the Endeavor/Eclipse hybrid harness I'm building, but I'm going to need to study the diagrams a bit more.
You're probably wondering what the hell remote door locks have to do with an engine swap. Well, at this point I have to keep the ETACS module in order to make the immobilizer work. Reverse engineering the ECU code to disable the immobilizer is a lot of very boring work that I just don't want to do. I actually want to keep the immobilizer anyway. Modifying the harness will be easier and has some benefits as well. If I'm going to keep the ETACS, I may as well make the most of it. That'll get me remote door locks, modern relays and fuses that are safer and easier to work on, and it'll also add some nice things like automatic light shut off.
But before I do any of that, I'm going to very crudely hack together enough of the harness to start the engine and at least let it idle. Towards that goal, I loosely laid out the Endeavor harness in the truck, and started marking connectors so I know what circuits go through them. This will also help me know what I can eventually eliminate when I go back to clean everything up. The Endeavor harness actually fits very well. I'm not going to have to hack it up nearly as much as I was afraid of.

I was talking to a co-worker this morning about the truck, and mentioned I was trying to put an Eclipse inside an Endeavor inside a Mighty Max (with a bit of Montero for seasoning). He said I was building a turducken
I think that'd make a great personalized plate when this is all done

Let there be light.

You and I have very different definitions of light. Lol.
But super duper bad ass.

That level of commitment is unreal.

It would have been done a year ago if that were true.

Congratulations! That's amazing you are getting that dash working in the truck!

I am most definitely impressed with this project

The dash is just temporary for troubleshooting. I don't know what I'm going long term. I kind of want to keep the original Max dash. Ideally I'd find a way to transplant the guts of one of the newer clusters into the housing of the Max cluster. That's not important right now though.
The main thing I'm doing right now is making sure I can get the immobilizer happy so that I can start the engine when it's ready. I also need to figure out a few more connectors I need from the junkyard. Right now there's no connection to the fuel tank or the taillights. At this rate I'll be lucky if the fuel pump even works after sitting for so long.

I read up on the immobilizer in the 3g Eclipses when we thought that is what caused some issues on the Spyder my brother had. I don't remember what people suggested in my research but I seem to remember something about setting it to all zeros. I could be way off in my thinking though.

The CANbus cars use a totally different immobilizer system. I could figure a way around it, but it's a bunch of tedious work I don't want to do. I want to keep the immo anyway.

Got ya. I wasn't even thinking about it being CANbus. I just remember reading about it being a headache on the pre-CANbus cars

How many different wire looms do you have?

Engine harness from an Eclipse, front body and interior harness from an Endeavor, and two full Max harnesses.
