Mine was $93k, so no argument at all from me that you can make them expensive.

Yeah, I saw that youtube video. Crazy stuff. I'm guessing the CHP are going to have a little discussion with that mechanic.

Got some radiator protector screens put on the front which also cover the brake duct inlets. Looks nice. Searching for some good wheels, have some candidates.
254 miles on the car after driving tonight. 246 to go before the redline moves up to where it is supposed to be. I come to a stop in "manual" shifting mode, for which the car auto-shifted down to 1st gear and took off and didn't paddle shift it and ran it up around 6k. Ooops.
Just everything about this car feels so much better than my C7 did. So much more refined and overall "nice". Could use more exhaust noises, but that's really about it.

Is the c8 still a sports car or has it elevated to "supercar" status?

I'd say the Stingray is still a "sports car", but the Z06 and ZR-1 could be knocking on the "supercar" door.

Where is the line drawn? Track times? Overall feel? Exclusivity?

The "base" C8 doesn't have supercar level of power at 490-495hp.
The Ferrari F8 (mid engine V8) has twin turbos and makes 710hp. The McLaren 720S also has a twin turbo V8 making 710hp. Both of those are considered supercars. The McLaren 570S (which McLaren calls a sports car) makes 533hp. They also tend to have things like carbon ceramic brakes and other high dollar stuff.
So I think Matt hit the nail on the head. The "base" C8 is more sports car, but by the time they get to flat plane crank/high revving (Z06), and rumored twin turbo models (ZR1) they'll be approaching and achieving that supercar status. Also the price will be approaching supercar status as well.

On the Corvette forums, a lot of people still seem to be thinking that the Z06 is going to be like $15k more than the Stingray, but I'm guessing that it will be a lot higher than that. GM knows they have a big hit on their hands, and they are going to want to capitalize on that success and bring in more profit margin on the higher variants. I'm thinking $90k base for the Z06 and $120k for the ZR-1 or e-Ray or whatever they want to call it (twin turbo + electric boost on the front axle, or whatever they end up delivering).
That's still extremely competitive against the competition price/performance-wise.

To me, the difference between supercar and sportscar is more subtle and not based on price really. It comes down to this:
A sportscar can be driven daily without making too many sacrifices.
A supercar cannot.

I don't think it's to that level anymore. Supercars have come a long way in the drivability department. 360 Modena pretty much is the beginning of the change for that. Fairly reliable, useable. Not quite a supercar but back then the bar wasn't as high either.
If you're talking space/seating...I guess my mr2 is a supercar.

Haha no not space/seating. But yes, I guess supercars have come a long way in livability. I was thinking more like "I wouldn't mind driving this in traffic to commute to work every day" kind of thing.

No. That is more based on the car being old and crappy

Hey now, there is basically no parts from the firewall forward that haven't been replaced
I think the only thing original mechanically on it now are the power steering pump, the rear diff, and the rear hubs

I finally got the 500 mile break-in done. The top half of the tach is very pleasing.

The pull from a stop caught me off-guard a bit! Super fun.
Finished the very minor paint touch-ups to remove some minor swirls in a couple spots, and put on the ceramic coating. Looks incredible!
