Um, you tell me. You're the one who said you see more Civics on the road so that makes them better.

I didn't necessarily say I was going to give it to him. I'm of the opinion kids should have to work for things. That's not to say I won't give him a smoking deal, or come up with some creative way for him to work off the debt, but I doubt I'll give it to him outright.

A lot could change between now and then anyway.

Now I'm tempted to buy it just because nobody has given me a solid reason not to. Your opinion of the looks mean jack shit to me.

I've driven HHRs as rental cars. They suck. Just everything about driving them feels shitty.

On the other hand, I could use one to haul around a pinball machine with ease (if my Avalanche wasn't available).

I dunno, maybe not the worst choice, but I think you'll find the handling less than stellar even with good winter tires.

As an old vehicle which do you see more now on the road. I see a ton of old civics in the road. I rarely see those things. That’s what I meant about see more on the road now as a test of long term reliability.

I drove a Pontiac Sunbird for 5 years. I doubt this thing could be any worse. I actually sort of liked my Sunbird.

Friend had an HHR and a PT cruiser. I enjoyed driving in his PT more than the other. Both are ugly but the pt was more nimble and better gas iirc and not so bulky.

It's not the EcoTec you have to worry about. Its EVERYTHING else.

Like what? My mom's S10 was solidly reliable until it was in a flood. My brother's S10 was reliable. My dad's 91 C1500 was perfect. My Sunbird was perfect until my brother fucked up the electrical system. I've got a friend who ran a Cavalier to almost 200k miles. We did replace the trans in the Cavi, but I'm still not convinced we diagnosed it correctly to begin with.

The only common problem I'm aware of is the ignition cylinder thing, and that affected everything GM made in the mid 2000s. It's also an easy fix. Hell, you don't even have to fix it. Just don't keep 5 pounds of shit on your key ring.

If there's something on the Delta platform that's known to break easily, please tell me. But as far as I've seen, the only issues are due to lack of maintenance. These were cheap cars, sold to cheap people, so that's not surprising.

You forget that 2004-2008 was when I worked for GM Techline. I'm pretty familiar with the kinds of calls that came in to TCSC and TAC.

So I'd need to check it thoroughly. I'd need to do that with any 150k mile, $2000ish car.

I prefer just about anything over an HHR.

2500 or less. I'd spend more, but this is mainly to get me through this winter. The truck is still the long term solution here.
