Worse drivers I have ever seen are here in Richmond. And I have driven in some crazy parts of the world.
Sorry about the accident
How did that happen? You stop he didnt?
Coop
Basically, traffic in front of me came to a stop, so I slowed down for it and he did not. He claimed his foot slipped off the brake pedal.
California drivers. Glad youre ok. Going to sell the explorer now?
We'll see what the insurance company says. Part of me hopes there more damage than what you initially see so it gets totaled.

Put a Corvette badge on the back, that should be enough to get it totaled

Re: 2007 Ford Explorer
Update: took yesterday off to deal with some of the stuff related to getting hit. I took the Explorer in to the body shop and picked up a rental car thanks to the other guy's insurance. There is a possibility it might be totaled because of the damage to the taillight pocket. The rear hatch also is damaged beyond repair, and obviously the rear bumper is too. I think it also destroyed at least one of the rear backup sensors.
If it is fixed I asked about having the gold trim all resprayed body color.
Is it bad I want it totaled, so you can get an F150?
I kinda want it totaled too, but not sure I'm going to want to spend that kind of money

KBB is showing me about $9k, but realistically based on what I've quickly looked it's closer to $10k for a V8 4x4 with lowish miles.

Re: 2007 Ford Explorer
I had a fireman who got a kbb offer on their totaled vehicle and he told them to find him one with those miles...they couldnt and so they did give him more. Dont know what insurance he had but dont just accept the money if you cant replace the vehicle.

Same when my mom's Nissan truck got stolen. They offered 3k. She laughed and said find me one. They came back with 3 listings.... All 2wd beat to shit 4 cylinders. She had to remind them it was a v6 4x4 with 100k and pristine condition (we had recent pics as we had just shipped it so I had documented it's condition).
They came back 3 weeks later with an offer for 7500. It took almost 7 years to find another one in comparable condition.

Yeah I'm honestly a little worried they'll try to tell me it's only worth $5k, but I'll be sure to fight for it if they come at me that low.

They'll always low ball, hoping your a sucker and take it. When my 626 was totaled, they offered me 2k for it, even though I had just bought it for 3k, which was close to book value. In addition I had just had the timing belt done, for $800 bucks. They ended up giving me like $3300 for it.

Re: 2007 Ford Explorer
Back before the Stealth got parked and that guy had a piece of equipment fall off his truck the insurance company tried to lowball my repairs due to "previous damage"
After flipping shit on the CSR I called and talked to my rep and a week or so later I got a check for more than what they told me on the phone I was getting.
Wow.
Yeah it sounds like there isn't really a way to mount the tail light anymore as the pocket has to be totally reconstructed. That's why it's so much to repair even though it looks like light damage
Woot!
Not sure if I'm excited or not.
